American Public Schools; from Alarming Decline to Complete Collapse

For the better part of two centuries, through the middle of the 20th Century, the essential mission of American Public Schools was a major driving force allowing the United States of America, as “ One Nation, Under God “, to become the single greatest nation the world has ever known.   Conceived and founded by the Grace of our Lord as a Christian Nation, our public schools, similar to our other public and private institution, remained the envy of the world until at least 1963.   Students were educated in a basic curriculum of (1) rigorous academic studies and the classics; (2) inherited knowledge via intergenerational transmittal of their heritage of America as a Christian nation, of her greatness, and her exceptionalism; (3) taught the Biblically-based Judeo-Christian values, ethics and morality by educators who lived under the same principles they imparted to their students.   From Colonial times in the 17th and 18th Centuries, through some 175 years of American history dating from 1776 through about 1964, both native-born Americans and millions of legal immigrants coming ashore in places like Ellis Island, eager to assimilate and become American citizens, benefits immensely from our then-unparalled educational excellence.

In an earlier published article this writer commented extensively regarding the erosion and loss of control by community-based academic schoolmasters of great moral integrity, to centralized bureaucratic control by secular humanist professional administrators mainly concerned with “ leftist social engineering and indoctrination “.   These leftist bureaucrats who slowly gained control of public schools in the first half of the 20th Century, used schoolchildren as unwitting “ laboratory rats “ for untested, unproven experimental social programs and curricula designed to indoctrinate instead of educate. In the 1920s and 30s Socialist Educators like John Dewey and Edmund Burke Huey, substituted “ learning by doing “ for concentrated and disciplined intellectual study, and “ sight-word reading “ in place of the far-superior phonics-based reading programs.   These left-wing, Socialist “ Educators “ worked to impose secular humanism, moral relativism, and secretive, secular “ counseling “ to replace Christian-based morality, rigorous academics and the “ obiter dicta “ dedicated teachers used to counsel students with life lessons regarding right and wrong.

By the 1960s, as the anti-Christian counterculture revolution began, and Congress began its major socialist drive to drastically increase federal control over state and local schools, adversarial collective bargaining laws in about two-thirds of the states created bitter and acrimonious battles with Saul-Alinsky-style community agitation by teachers and their labor unions.   University educators like Ron Edmonds, persuaded a generation of liberal educators to falsely believe the lie,” that the home environment of schoolchildren was not significantly important to their success in public schools “.

education2Nearly all teachers and parents know that the home environment is of paramount importance to school success!   Since the 1960s, Americans have experienced the tragedy of drastic declines in the numbers of traditional, responsible, morally centered family units who reared respectful and responsible children who value education.   The dark emergence of nasty, ugly divorces, bitter child custody battles, rampant drug and alcohol abuse, rampant child neglect and abuse, adoptions of children by homosexual and lesbian couples, and the out-of wedlock births to unmarried single parents nearing 50% of all families, has wrecked the learning environment inside our public school classrooms and corridors.   Politicians blame poor school performance on poverty largely created by social welfare programs born in President Lyndon Johnson’s Congress, or on poor teaching, or not spending enough money on schools, or on anything other than the truth: a tidal wave of dysfunctional children reared in dysfunctional families who have been prepared for failure.

Organizations like “ School Match “ have performed solid research that clearly shows the academic success of schools is much more closely affected by the self-motivation of students, their rearing in traditional, morally-centered and civically responsible families who impart the value of education, than with the amount of taxpayer money that is thrown at the schools. Typically, the worst performing public schools are the schools in districts with sky-high tax rates and stratospheric levels of per-student spending. Most Americans know our entire nation is experiencing perilous decline, particularly in the past ten years, while our major cities and large urban areas are rapidly becoming lawless, crime-ridden wastelands of moral and social decay, with dying business and economic bases and on the brink of bankruptcy. The urban school districts that “ serve “ these decaying and dying large cities are also in great peril.   Tangled in the spider web-like morass of secular humanist, moral relativism, social engineering, left-wing indoctrination, with hallways and classrooms filled with unruly, profane and violent students, these schools are failing to educate 50% of their children while poorly educating the other 50%.   Meanwhile, callous, uncaring administrators and burned-out, unmotivated teachers staff such schools, and these hollowed out school districts, which are academically, financially and morally bankrupt, while politicians continue to pour millions of taxpayer dollars down a filthy, evil-infested rat hole.

Understandably, millions of taxpayers, parents and their students have “ voted with their feet” in wholesale abandonment of failing public schools. Already at least 10% of American children either attend private or parochial schools or are homeschooled.   Given the culture of left-wing hostility to traditional family values, banishment of school prayer and any reference to religion, anti-Christian bias, rife with filth and left-wing lies in textbooks and curricula, rampant violence and disorder in classrooms and hallways, physical and psychological assaults on students and teachers, teachers having sex with students, blatantly pro-abortion and rapidly becoming blatantly pro-homosexual, abandonment of public schools is the only option for caring parents.

Clearly the case has been made that American public schools, with the exception of some rural and small-town districts primarily in the South and the Frontier Strip on the Great Plains, are in a rapid “ death spiral “ losing students, losing their tax base, their credibility and that this “ death spiral “ is accelerating.   As school districts crush their constituents under unbearable taxation and out-of control spending, while producing abysmal results, the imbalance between sky-high financial input and rock-bottom educational performance will continue to send millions of parents and students into private and home schooling.

In the wake of Hodges v. Ogberfell in which five “ justices ” on the “ Supreme Court “ tyrannically wiped out 6,000 years of human history and negated as worthless the votes of 50 million American citizens and “ created a right out of thin air “ to homosexual marriage nationwide, the “ death spiral “ of American public education will be complete and our school system will collapse.   Homosexual marriage having been legalized nationwide by “ five jackass judges “, together with countless other “ LBGT rights “ movements led by left-wing zealots, will lead quickly and directly to ferocious attacks and destruction of Freedom of Religion, Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Association.   Faced with sending our children to public schools already with entrenched, cesspool-like conditions, left-wing socialist indoctrination, and nonexistent academic standards, responsible parents will not expose their children to schools where the homosexual lifestyle and its moral sewage will be “ celebrated “ and “ praised “.

gay schoolGiven that soon federal laws will further suffocate our failing public schools with mandates that very young children as well as adolescents be forcibly indoctrinated to believe “ gay is good “ Instead of “ God is Great “; taught that “ gay marriage, gay sex is wonderful, that transgenderism is wonderful”, and, that if you believe as a Christian that this constitutes grave and sinful conduct against God, you will be punished called a bigot, fined, sued, and sent to jail.   Persecution will be rampant and wholly institutionalized in all walks of life, not the least of these being in public schools.

As this additional burden of intolerable immorality is forced upon parents and their children across America, the light will go out in public schools.   Any caring parent who can find the means to pull their children out and send them to private schools, or pull them out to be homeschooled, will do so.   Not having the means to pursue this path, many parents will form educational cooperatives or if necessary, will flatly refuse to enroll their children in public school.   Under the enormous weight of mass civil resistance by Christian and conservative parents whose will and outrage has been sorely underestimated by our tyrannical left wing government, American public schools will experience a total collapse, with woefully few students and woefully inadequate public and financial support.

The wrath being stirred up among Christian and conservatives across America will be exceeded only by the coming wrath of God.   The fight against this tyranny has only begun.   As a career educator who has already fought long and hard on the conservative Christian side of the Culture Wars, I remain firmly resolved to ramp up our fight against this barbarian horde of tyrannical homosexual activists and their bottom-feeding allies.   Under such tyranny, let American public schools collapse!   They will not be worth saving.   We shall if necessary, form our own new schools, our own new institutions in support of the Church and the family.   In our community of believers, you will undoubtedly find also many who are likely to advocate forming our own new nation.
