So without further ado, here’s what we’re reading Tuesday October 1, 2013.

The 2012 elections were not a mandate… for anyone.

The war over Obamacare has led to a lot of half-truths and nonsense being uttered by beltway politicos – so Pat Buchanan tries to cut through all of the double talk and figure out what’s true.

There’s a lot of talk about government shut downs going around… here’s the basics you need to know. The most important thing to remember about the government shut down is that no matter how much the politicians and media try to scare you… it’s really no big deal. The government has shut down 17 different times since the late 70s.

Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) was Senator Ted Cruz’s (R-TX) wing man in the fight to defund Obamacare… but he’s also been a stalwart conservative in his time in the Senate.

The NSA stores everyone’s metadata for at least a year… everyone’s. For a year.

Chris Matthews recently called Republicans terrorists for threatening a government shutdown. Rep. Raul Labrador (R-ID) turned the tables on the bomb throwing Matthews when he pointed out that Matthews boss in Congress in the 80’s shut down the government 11 times!

A federal judge has told the Department of Justice that he will not dismiss the Fast and Furious lawsuit simply because the Executive Branch wants him to.

CNN has canceled its planned Hillary Clinton documentary. NBC has done the same saying, “After reviewing and prioritizing our slate of movie/miniseries development, we’ve decided that we will no longer continue developing the Hillary Clinton miniseries.”
