The 2015 Iowa Freedom Summit Sparks the Republican Race for the White House in 2016

The 2015 Iowa Freedom Summit was a literal “Who’s Who” among conservative politicians (and even a few not-so-conservative ones). It also acts as the firing gun for the run up to the 2016 presidential race. Iowa has become one of the semi-annual Presidential swing states (though Iowa has gone Democrat in 5 of the last 6 Presidential elections), and is an important stepping stone for any candidate hoping to win the White House.

Governor Sarah Palin (R-AK)

Dr. Ben Carson

Governor Scott Walker (R-WI)

Senatro Ted Cruz (R-TX)

Governor Rick Perry (R-TX)

Governor Mike Huckabee (R-AR)

Governor Chris Christie (R-NJ)

Other speakers included Donald Trump, Senator Mike Lee (R-UT), Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA), Representative Steve King (R-IA), Rick Santorum (R-PA), Newt Gingrich (R-GA), Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC), Governor Terry Branstad (R-IA) and others…

So now the question is who’s the pick? Will Republicans move towards the right, the left or the middle in the upcoming primary season? Will we see another establishment candidate (like Bush, Romney and McCain)? Will we finally choose the first real conservative since President Ronald Reagan (someone like Cruz or Paul)? Or perhaps we’ll see someone in between all of these figures (like a Jindal, Walker or Perry)?

Interesting times ahead folks, interesting times indeed.

The next major collection of Party heavyweights will come at the end of February when Republicans gather in Washington, D.C. for CPAC 2015.
