I am sure that Hillary Clinton (and most of her undying supporters) would call this headline a lie, or say that I was misrepresenting what she said in her feminist screed at the 2015 Women in the World Summit. I disagree with their assessment of my understanding of what she said in her speech, and you can listen or yourself to decide.
I have quoted the relevant comments below, but I want to point out two sentences in particular.
Laws have to be backed up with resources and political will. And deep-seated cultural codes, religious beliefs and structural biases have to be changed.
On these two little lines lay the crux of my argument that Hillary Clinton does indeed want to end freedom of religion. Laws have to be backed up with resources and political will and religious beliefs must be changed. For abortion to move forward and be allowed at any time during pregnancy… we must change religious beliefs. How so? With laws, money and political force… perhaps much the same way that gay marriage became legal?
Today’s Democrat Party is more interested in taking away our inalienable rights than they are in anything else, and Hillary Clinton has proved that fact once again.
“Far too many women are denied access to reproductive health care and safe childbirth, and laws don’t count for much if they’re not enforced. Rights have to exist in practice — not just on paper.
Laws have to be backed up with resources and political will. And deep-seated cultural codes, religious beliefs and structural biases have to be changed. As I have said and as I believe, the advancement of the full participation of women and girls in every aspect of their societies is the great unfinished business of the 21st century and not just for women but for everyone — and not just in far away countries but right here in the United States.”
