Jeb Bush Honors Hillary Clinton with Liberty Medal

In what is either a cruel twist of fate or someone’s idea of an incredibly ironic joke, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush honored Hillary Clinton with the Liberty Medal award from the National Constitution Center. To make matters immeasurably worse, the award was bestowed upon her on the evening before the one-year anniversary of the 9/11 attack on the Benghazi consulate. If there existed an award for callously giving a disgusting token to a liar, hypocrite and power hungry partisan… then the National Constitution Center would easily be the front-runner.

In a revolting display of arrogance, the National Constitution Center president and CEO Jeffrey Rosen said, “Hillary Clinton has devoted her life to expanding opportunities for ‘We the People’ not just in this country but around the globe.”

The decision to honor Hillary Clinton was condemned by the Independence Hall Tea Party Association of Philadelphia, who said that the event was “extremely distressing,” and that instead of an award, Mrs. Clinton should be at the receiving end of a Congressional investigation for her part in the cover-up of the Benghazi attack.

As distressing as these events taking place, the presence of Republican Jeb Bush seemingly makes the event more legitimate. The son of George H.W. Bush and the younger brother of George W. Bush, Jeb Bush has aspirations for the nation’s highest office, but being part of this gross display of hubris will likely burn bridges between he and conservative Republicans across the country. These words may come back to haunt Jeb Bush as he makes his move for the Presidency in 2016. “Former Secretary Clinton has dedicated her life to serving and engaging people across the world in democracy… These efforts as a citizen, an activist, and a leader have earned Secretary Clinton this year’s Liberty Medal,” said award presenter Jeb Bush.

clintonbloodIf you have managed to keep yourself from becoming sick up until this point, then the official statement from the National Constitution Center should do the trick.  As Secretary of State, Clinton advocated for “smart power” in foreign policy, elevating diplomacy and development and repositioning them for the 21st century – with new tools, technologies, and partners, including the private sector and civil society around the world.

Apparently the National Constitution Center hasn’t noticed the abject failure of the Clinton State Department and their arrogant use of the “smart power” slogan. Today the world is a much more dangerous place than it was five years ago. Today America is in a diminished state of power, to the point that some commenters would argue we are at our weakest world position since before WWII. Today America’s footing on the international stage is uncertain — we have lost influence, friends, allies, and partners around the world. Today our government is the laughingstock of the world and much of that is due to the policies of the Obama administration and the Clinton State Department.

If the National Constitution Center cared for its reputation at all they would have scrapped plans to honor Hillary Clinton with the “Liberty Medal,” and they would have denounced her as the enemy to liberty that she actually is.
