What We’re Reading August 31, 2013

We hope you’re having a great day wherever you are and that the news we dig up for you this morning helps you navigate the day more efficiently!

It’s a busy world out there, and you don’t have a ton of free time to be doing Internet searches for the most important items of the day… lucky for you, we do. We drink gallons of coffee in an effort to stay awake long enough to scour the far reaches of the world wide web in an effort to bring you the most important, useful and useless information every single day.

You’re welcome.

So without further ado, here’s what we’re reading Saturday August 31, 2013.

Secretary of State John Kerry tried to make the President’s case for action in Syria today, but most of the country doesn’t seem to be buying it. If the President thinks attacking Syria will help rebuild the damage done to our nation’s reputation, he is sorely mistaken. President Obama is not happy with how slowly and ineffectively the United Nations gets things done. (I feel like the Bush Administration complained about the same thing.) Speaking of President Bush, he won’t get suckered in to criticizing President Obama’s rhetoric or actions on Syria.

Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) has some tough talk for House Majority Speaker John Boehner (R-OH). If John Boehner allows the amnesty featured immigration reform bill to pass the House, the GOP will be forced to find a new Speaker.

The amnesty supporting Senators are having a tough go of it too. Senator Marco Rubio was recently heckled by some Tea Party supporters, about his work on the Senate’s Gang of Eight Immigration Reform. Lindsey Graham is facing his toughest Republican challenge since being elected Senator from South Carolina in 2003. His challengers all seem to be to the right of the RINO from the Palmetto State.

Islamic extremists continue their attacks on the Christian community in Egypt.

The Obama administration is clamping down on guns (which are legal) while they are easing up on marijuana use (which is illegal).

President Obama thinks that teaching sex education to kindergarteners is “the right thing to do.”

A big earthquake hit southwest China yesterday.

German police use extreme tactics to defend Germany from the dangers of homeschooling.

Um… this seems… morbid.
