Is President Obama For or Against America?

Does President Barack Obama love America? Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani’s recent comments have brought that question front and center. Mayor’s Giuliani’s words “I do not believe that the president loves America” have resulted in his receiving death threats. In addition, Wisconsin Governor and GOP 2016 Presidential candidate Scott Walker was put in the awkward position of addressing the question of President Obama’s love for America after Mayor Giuliani attended his fundraiser. Why is it that we still don’t know the answer to this question? In the six years that President Obama has been in office, he has spent most of his time apologizing for America. On the campaign trail in 2008, he famously said that “we are five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America.”  Back in 2008, the Democrats, Independents and some Republicans were excited about the prospect of electing the first black U.S. president. They were consumed with the historic nature of the moment and the bandied comment that this election was the first step towards undoing years of oppression against the black population. Barack Obama appeared to be the fulfillment of Martin Luther King Jr.’s vision of a world where little black children and little white children hold hands. The nation was dazzled by Barack Obama’s amazing oratory skills and his promise of “Change You Can Believe in.”   Everyone was too busy drinking the Kool-Aid to fully dissect the words “fundamentally transform America”. Future First Lady Michelle Obama made the statement “For the first time in my adult life, I am really proud of my country.” At the time, Michelle Obama’s words, which offended many conservatives, were excused by campaign staffers. Once again, we missed the clue that President Obama wanted to “fundamentally transform” America from a democracy where all are entitled to “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” to a socialist state where the government dictates and rations the country’s resources.

Obama and WrightWe have heard the stories of President Obama’s past controversial alliances. For many years he attended the Trinity United Church of Christ which is led by the controversial Reverend Jeremiah Wright, who is credited with the famous “God Damn America” sermon following 9/11. In addition to Obama viewing Wright as a mentor whose teachings influenced Obama’s early speeches, the Obama children were even baptized in his church. While President Obama would later denounce Reverend Wright’s hateful comments and separate himself from the Trinity United Church of Christ, he never denounced Reverend Wright as a person. Obama launched his Senate Campaign at the home of William Ayers, “a distinguished professor at the University of Illinois” who had previously been the leader of the Weather Underground, a 70’s left-wing radical organization which was responsible for a bombing campaign targeting governments and banks. Once again, President Obama later distanced himself from William Ayers, but never completely denounced him personally,

While President Obama and his spokespeople may have tried to explain away his past controversial alliances with individuals whose actions clearly demonstrated a hatred for America by the fact that he no longer keeps company with them, how does he explain his current associations? Let’s start with departing Attorney General Eric Holder, who once called America “a nation of cowards”. Throughout the six years which Eric Holder has been in office, he has repeatedly demonstrated his anti-American position. Most recently, his anti-police rhetoric during the Michael Brown and Eric Garner cases clearly played a key role in inciting racial violence throughout the nation. obama no pledgePresident Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder should be further criticized out for involving notorious race merchant Al Sharpton in the Brown and Garner cases. Let’s not forget that Al Sharpton, who has visited the White House over 80 times, was also on the search committee for Holder’s replacement. Holder’s anti-American stance was further evidenced in the “Fast and Furious“ gun running scandal where Holder was held in contempt of Congress for obstructing the justice probe, making him the first sitting Attorney General to be held in contempt of Congress. In the IRS targeting scandal, Holder came under fire for his failure to prosecute the IRS employees responsible for targeting conservative organizations for greater scrutiny. He was accused of perjury and obstruction of justice in conjunction with this case, with a call for his impeachment. In addition, Holder has been called out for lying about his involvement in the Department of Justice’s investigation of Fox News Reporter James Rosen. Interfering with the freedom of the press is hardly American.

President Obama’s devotion to America has been further questioned by his own recent actions. First all, he defied the Constitution by issuing an executive order granting amnesty to over 4 million illegal immigrants. As the President of the United States, his primary responsibility is to ensure that the laws of the Constitution are followed. In failing to do this, he puts America at risk. He puts at risk our reason for existence, national security, economy and quality of life. President Obama’s position on social entitlement programs also demonstrate that he is not truly an advocate for American entrepreneurship. He and his current Labor Secretary, Tom Perez, talk of “a shared prosperity” where everyone shares the wealth even if they didn’t earn it. This concept flies in the face of the American dream that anyone can make his way in America if he works hard and achieves the education and skills that he needs to improve his situation. By contrast, Barack Obama is all about providing people with entitlements: free college, free healthcare, free phones. But none of these items are truly free. The tax payers are funding them.

President Obama’s recent public statements about the horrific terrorist attacks that have taken place at the hands of radical Islamic terrorists have also brought into question his devotion to America. His failure to utter the words “Radical Islamic Terrorism” show that he is more concerned with not offending the Muslims than he is with protecting Americans. Over the last few months, the President has made repeated statements that the extreme terrorist behavior which we have witnessed has nothing to do with Islam, that there are no religious roots in this violent behavior. During the recent Countering Violent Extremism (CFE) Summit at the White House, the President invited several Muslims who have expressed anti-Judeo Christian attitudes, including Salam Al-Marayati, the founder of the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC). Following 9/11, Al-Marayati appeared on radio show where he suggested that Israel be put on the suspect list. Interestingly enough, a group of 23 prominent Reformist Muslims were excluded from the Summit because President Obama disagreed with their argument that ISIS and similar groups are motivated by Islam. Again, these actions give pause as to where President Obama’s loyalties lie.

As the President of the United States, President Obama needs to be the lead ambassador for America and the protector-in-chief for the American people, the Constitution and the liberties it affords us. Our nation should not be wondering if President Obama loves America.
