Government Makes Millions Off of Your Data

Do you get tired of getting junk mail?

Well, even if you’re very careful and try and stay away from the solicitors by not signing up for any giveaways or special deals… the government is probably selling your data to marketing companies anyway.

A recent report from a Colorado news channel found that many Coloradans were having their personal (public) information sold to any bidders looking for mailing lists. Apparently in Colorado (and the rest of the country) the government makes millions off of its citizens personal data

The government’s spokesperson tried his best to make the practice not sound creepy by mentioning that the money the government makes off the sale of the lists simply covers cost.

However, when considering the various branches and offices of government that are compiling this information, it quickly becomes clear that your information is likely being sold many times over.

It’s not just happening in Colorado either folks.

moneyhat2Ever wondered why you get all of those “just moved” junk mail deals after purchasing a new home? Or why you receive so many offers to purchase your home after someone passes away? How about when you receive all the junk mail from traffic lawyers when you get a speeding ticket?

All of this junk mail that clutters your mailbox is thanks to the government profiting off of your life. You are forced to interact with the government to get licenses or permits – then they turn around and sell your information to anyone who will pay them for it.

Doesn’t quite seem right, does it?

The government requires you to give them certain information just so you can go about your day to day life… and then they use that information to make a quick buck.

That’s government service for you…
