We hope you’re having a great day wherever you are and that the news we dig up for you this morning helps you navigate the day more efficiently!
It’s a busy world out there, and you don’t have a ton of free time to be doing Internet searches for the most important items of the day… lucky for you, we do. We drink gallons of coffee in an effort to stay awake long enough to scour the far reaches of the world wide web in an effort to bring you the most important, useful and useless information every single day.
So without further ado, here’s what we’re reading Thursday January 29, 2015.
Dueling pieces are out on Sarah Palin today – both from conservative commentators. In one of them, Matt Lewis argues that he was wrong about Palin, in that she was never the politician that he thought she was. In the other, Mark Hemingway doesn’t really disagree, but he does point out that most of the problem with Palin is probably the media’s fault.
Indiana Governor Mike Pence (R-IN) is quickly disqualifying himself for the job of GOP Presidential nominee in 2016. Yesterday, he was embroiled in a mini-scandal about his plan to start a “state run” media outlet. (Yeah, this is a supposedly conservative Governor.) Today, it’s an analysis of his horrible decision to expand Medicaid under Obamacare.
Another candidate who seems to be reemerging is Florida Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL). While anathema to many conservatives because of his participation in the “Gang of 8” Immigration fiasco a couple of years back, Rubio has made some amazing strides with the rich establishment class. Apparently, the wealthiest donors in the Koch brother’s donor circuit prefer Rubio to the other candidates. Sadly, Rubio continues to push conservatives away, this time with his full-throated support of extending the NSA’s Mass Surveillance program… PERMANENTLY.
Jeb Bush’s current strategy may seem perplexing, but there is a method to the madness.
President Obama is setting Hillary Clinton up to FAIL.
The OVERWHELMING majority of Americans oppose President Obama’s immigration actions.
The Tea Party is planning to take on John McCain in 2016.
