The Obama White House is taking criticism from all sides for their failure to take part in the “Unity March” with other world leaders in Paris. The liberal media seems aghast that the Obama team could miss such and important and possibly historic meeting of Western (and other) leaders. The conservative wing of American politics can’t understand why the President wouldn’t take the opportunity to show his solidarity with our allies and strike a symbolic blow at Islamic terrorism. And everyone else just doesn’t get how the administration could be so… INCOMPETENT.
Amid criticism, the White House admitted fault by not sending President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden or other top-ranking official to the unity rally in Paris on Sunday where more than 40 heads of state marched through Paris.
“It is fair to say we should have sent someone with a higher profile,” spokesman Josh Earnest told reporters Monday. The only noted American official in attendance was the U.S ambassador to France.
Attorney General Eric Holder was in Paris during the time of the march Sunday for an international security summit but didn’t join in the march. He appeared on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” saying “the French have been among our best allies, our greatest friends in this fight against global terrorism. And we are here to express our solidarity with them.”
But critics thought that the visual presence of attending the march was too significant of an opportunity to pass.
Senator Ted Cruz wrote a scathing op-ed for TIME Magazine about the President’s decision to skip the important unity rally.
We must never hesitate to stand with our allies. We should never hesitate to speak the truth. In Paris or anywhere else in the world.
On Sunday, leaders representing Europe, Israel, Africa, Russia, and the Middle East linked arms and marched together down Place de la Concorde in Paris. But, sadly, no one from the White House was found among the more than 40 Presidents and Prime Ministers who walked the streets with hundreds of thousands of French citizens demonstrating their solidarity against radical Islamic terrorists.
The absence is symbolic of the lack of American leadership on the world stage, and it is dangerous. The attack on Paris, just like previous assaults on Israel and other allies, is an attack on our shared values. And, we are stronger when we stand together, as French President François Hollande said, for “liberty, equality, and fraternity.”
Q: "The VP was sitting at home all weekend and presumably could have gone,” @PressSec: “And so was the president."

And finally, Jon Stewart speaks for everyone else when he says “What the F***!” How could the President miss this opportunity for solidarity?
Sadly, our President continues to drop the ball and let down the American people at every opportunity. Whether here at home or abroad – the only thing we can rely on with Obama is that he will be a massive failure.
