Rand Paul implies ‘Jeb Bush is NO Ronald Reagan’

The junior Senator from Kentucky, Rand Paul (R-KY) was on Fox News’ the Kelly File with Megyn Kelly a couple of days ago to discuss the upcoming Republican presidential primaries coming up next year. The conversation turned specifically to the most recent addition to the race, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush (R-FL), who just announced his decision to run. Kelley asked the Senator several important questions…

Megyn Kelly: “Some people are saying, come on, senator, make a decision. Why is Jeb Bush out ahead of you?”

Senator Paul: “Maybe he has more ground he needs to gain. He’s been out of this for a while, so maybe he needs to get back in and practice up a bit.”

Then Kelly brought up some comments that Senator Paul had previously made that no one who supported the Common Core could win the Republican primary and how “that seemed to be a direct shot at him (Jeb Bush)”.

Senator Rand Paul: Absolutely. It would be very difficult. Most of us believe in less federal government and more decentralized government, particularly with education. You know Ronald Reagan ran on the platform of getting rid of the Department of Education. For Jeb Bush to win in the primary will be very, very, very difficult. Because if you are going to be for a national curriculum, and the Common Core, and No Child Left Behind, this accumulation of power in Washington, that’s not very popular, and if he think he’s going to win the primary it is going to need overcoming.
