University of Michigan Communications Department Chairwoman and professor, Susan J. Douglas, recently wrote a piece aptly titled… “It’s Okay to Hate Republicans.”
“I hate Republicans… I can’t stand the thought of having to spend the next two years watching Mitch McConnell, John Boehner, Ted Cruz, Darrell Issa or any of the legions of other blowhards denying climate change, thwarting immigration reform or championing fetal ‘personhood.’”
It get’s better, she even says that her main reason for hating them is that Republicans have, “crafted a political identity that rests on a complete repudiation of the idea that the opposing party and its followers have any legitimacy at all.”
I wonder what it must be like to be a conservative in her classroom? I bet many Republican parents are excited to send their young, impressionable minds off to the University of Michigan to learn… hate? Liberals claim that Republicans hold a monopoly on acting out of irrational emotions, but it’s a two-way street, isn’t it? What Ms. Douglas has so fittingly demonstrated for us is that liberals are exactly like the very people they claim to despise… and for the same reasons they claim to despise them!
Have you ever stood outside of an abortion clinic and listened to the vitriol spitting off the tongues of the pro-abortion fanatics? They hate us for standing there with our signs and in our silence. They hate us for saying that the babies being murdered in their building have value… and zealots like Douglas pretend that instead we are saying that the women murdering their children have no value. NO! We believe that both lives have intrinsic value and are beautiful to their maker.
Have you ever tried to tell a liberal that you don’t think socialized medicine is a “good thing”? They’ll yell and scream that you’re an evil and greedy so and so who wants poor people to die of cancer or heart disease. It’s not so; I simply believe that the free market can offer better, cheaper and more opportunities to care for the sick and needy than the government can.
See, liberals like Ms. Douglas like to pretend they know us. They pretend they can peer into our black cold hearts and see our evil machinations brewing in our minds… but it’s just plain wrong. I think liberal ideas are stupid, sure. But I don’t hate liberals for believing their ideas are better.
I guess the most important lesson I’ve learned from Ms. Douglas’ terribly rude and arrogant article is that my child will not be attending the University of Michigan.
