Sign of the Apocalypse – Man Arrested for Pointing Banana at Cops

In what can only be described as a not-so-“fruitful” decision, a Colorado man was arrested after pointing a banana at passing police officers and pretending it was a gun!

We should point out that the police who arrested 27-year old Nathan Channing thought that the banana he was pointing their way looked an awful lot like a gun. Channing who is from Fruitvale, Colorado told the officers that he was a comedian who makes YouTube videos, but the officers did not appreciate his attempt at humor.

The police officers said in their report that they feared for their safety, even though they could plainly see that the “gun” being aimed their way was yellow.

“I immediately ducked in my patrol car and accelerated continuing northbound, fearing that it was a weapon,” one of the officers wrote in the report. “Based on training and experience, I have seen handguns in many shapes and colors and perceived this to be a handgun.”

Channing should count his himself very lucky, because the situation escalated quickly with both officers making moves for their own weapons – which were not of the fruit variety. The not-so-funny comedian realized the direction things were moving and quickly yelled out, “It’s a banana!” Once the officers realized that they were in no danger, they arrested the man and he’s now being charged with felony menacing – meaning he could face three years in prison along with a $100K fine!

Next time you can be sure Channing will take his banana and split instead of trying to joke around with his local police!
