Popular Latino journalist Jose Diaz-Balart was on MSNBC’s Morning Joe with Joe Scarborough when he explained how odd it was that the President could, for years, tell Latino voters that he could do nothing more on immigration because of the Constitution.
President Obama repeatedly told anyone who would listen, that, because the job of handling immigration was specifically given to Congress by the Constitution, he had no power to do anything more than he had already done.
However, over the last few months the President has suddenly changed his tune… but he hasn’t told anyone why. Has he gotten new information? Did someone change the Constitution without telling the rest of us? What happened? What changed?
“The president and I have been talking about this for years now. It just wasn’t the one time. It was two times last year. Probably two times the year before that.
And I’ve always asked him what about, for example, expanding DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) to the parents of deferred action kids? What about expanding DACA for kids that are older, etc?
He always pushed back saying ‘listen, right now, it has to be the house that is dealing with this. This is not the responsibility of the president. This is the responsibility of the House to get something done after the Senate passed their proposal a year and a half ago.
So he was always adamant that he could not do more. But, as Josh Earnest said, things change.”
“Things change?” This is the answer they’re giving us when asked where he gets the authority to do this? “Things change?”
Our founders are rolling over in their graves. This is a disgusting abuse of power and the media should be ashamed of itself for not holding the President’s feet to the fire on his illegal activity. They may want to see amnesty, but it shouldn’t be at any cost. Barack Obama is the President of the United States, not the Emperor.
