What We’re Reading August 8, 2013

We hope you’re having a great day wherever you are and that the news we dig up for you this morning helps you navigate the day more efficiently! It’s a busy world out there, and you don’t have a ton of free time to be doing Internet searches for the most important items of the day… lucky for you, we do. We drink gallons of coffee in an effort to stay awake long enough to scour the far reaches of the world wide web in an effort to bring you the most important, useful and useless information every single day. You’re welcome.

So without further ado, here’s what we’re reading Thursday August 8, 2013.

Newt Gingrich argues that Republicans should “stick to their principles” as the party moves forward into 2014.

In a recent Fox News poll, 71% of the country thinks that the President is offering “nothing new” in his latest assault on “fixing” the economy.

Jeb Bush takes Matt Damon to task for his lack of support for school choice.

Here’s something nice, if you happen to work in Congress. The President took it upon himself to personally work out a deal whereby Congress members and their staff would be exempt from the drastic price increases that would have been incurred had they switched into the Obamacare program. While it does not exempt them from Obamacare – the government will continue paying for their insurance… which in effect… exempts them from Obamacare.

defundPACRepublican Senators are building a grassroots army to fight the implementation of Obamacare. We here at Eagle Rising applaud the “defund” effort and will continue to implore our readers to sign the petitions, call their local, state, and national representatives… and continue to do all they can to make their voices heard.

President Obama has the gall to tell our soldiers that “we will never retreat”, the day after telling Americans to leave Yemen, and days after closing several of our embassies.

Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is suddenly okay with the GOP’s new plan for immigration reform… does that make anyone else nervous?

The monster of Cleveland, Ariel Castro, will never step foot in his old house again.

Huge wildfires rage in California.

Rand Paul (R-KY) seems to imply a possible media-White House effort to smear Republicans in the last Presidential election. I’m not one for conspiracy theories…but he seems to have a valid point.

ESPN radio host Colin Cowherd calls Texas conservatives hypocrites because of their support of Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel.
