In what can only be described as the most laughable turn of events on the political scene, the union which represents IRS employees is encouraging their members to call, write, email or contact their congressmen in any form they can to ask that IRS employees be exempt from Obamacare.
I kid you not.
The IRS begs for exemption… For those of you keeping score at home this just continues the trend of unions (both public sector and private sector) begging off from Obamacare.
Laborers International Union of North America President Terry O’Sullivan said,
“In effect, ACA (Obamacare) takes money from the pockets of each laborer covered by a health and welfare fund and gives it to for-profit insurance companies… Those added costs will eventually impact collective bargaining agreements making union construction companies less competitive than nonunion ones and resulting in less work for union laborers… Approximately 3 million laborers, retirees, and their families now face the very real prospect of losing their health benefits. This, I must remind you, was something that you promised would not happen.”
More and more the unions are waking up to the train wreck that is Obamacare, but it’s especially ironic to see the IRS turn on the monstrosity, seeing that they are to be the enforcers of the new legislation. This agency that has so recently come under heightened scrutiny because of their perverse actions persecuting conservative Americans for their political views, is supposed to handle the transition to Obamacare and the implementation of the financial aspects of the law. They have already proved themselves to not be trustworthy of the responsibility, but now they are proving to be hypocrites as well. The IRS employees union did not oppose Obamacare (unlike Laborers International Union of North America), however, now that its implementation is nigh, they’d like to opt out. Obamcare for thee, but not for me.
Perhaps Harry Reid should go on over to the IRS offices in Washington, D.C. and remind them of his recent message on Meet the Press.
That’s right, folks — “ObamaCare has been wonderful for America.”
Unfortunately for the IRS, simply wanting out, doesn’t get you out – just ask the rest of America. Poll after poll shows that the majority of Americans have no desire to see Obamacare become the law of the land, and most of us would rather it be repealed. But wishing doesn’t make it so. It’s time to elect the men and women who can get this abomination of legislation repealed.
