College Honors Cop Killer Asks Him to Give Commencement Address

Convicted cop killer and former Black Panther Mumia Abu-Jamal has become a celebrity with liberals all over America.

In 1981, Abu-Jamal murdered police officer Danny Faulkner in vicious cold blood.

The Fraternal Order of Police tell us how witnesses and evidence say the killing played out.

On December 9, 1981, at approximately 3:55 a.m., Officer Danny Faulkner, a five year veteran of the Philadelphia Police Department, made a traffic stop at Locust Street near Twelfth Street. The car stopped by Officer Faulkner was being driven by William Cook. After making the stop, Danny called for assistance on his police radio and requested a police wagon to transport a prisoner. Unbeknownst to him, William Cook’s brother, Wesley (aka Mumia Abu-Jamal) was across the street. As Danny attempted to handcuff William Cook, Mumia Abu-Jamal ran from across the street and shot the officer in the back. Danny turned and was able to fire one shot that struck Abu-Jamal in the chest; the wounded officer then fell to the pavement. Mumia Abu-Jamal stood over the downed officer and shot at him four more times at close range, striking him once directly in the face. Mumia Abu-Jamal was found still at the scene of the shooting by officers who arrived there within seconds. The murderer was slumped against the curb in front of his brother’s car. In his possession was a .38 caliber revolver that records showed Mumia had purchased months earlier. The chamber of the gun had five spent cartridges. A cab driver, as well as other pedestrians, had witnessed the brutal slaying and identified Mumia Abu-Jamal as the killer both at the scene and during his trial. On July 2, 1982, after being tried before a jury of ten whites and two blacks, Mumia Abu-Jamal was convicted of murdering Officer Danny Faulkner. The next day, the jury sentenced him to death after deliberating for four hours. The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania heard the defendant’s appeals and upheld the conviction on March 6, 1989.

MumiaAbuJamalImage2Officer Danny Faulkner joined the ranks of those courageous officers who have given their lives to keep our nation’s streets safe and free. Danny and his wife, Maureen, had been married only slightly more than a year. Now, she was left a widow with only her memories of the young officer to comfort her and dreams of the life they could have shared together. Danny and Maureen Faulkner are the real victims of that horrible night in December, 1981. It is for them that we seek justice.

Well now this evil man who has become a celebrity among the liberal elite is being honored by Goddard College in Plainfield, Vermont. Goddard is giving Abu-Jamal the privilege of being their commencement speaker. The college says that his speech has been prerecorded by Prison Radio.

“As a reflection of Goddard’s individualized and transformational educational model, our commencements are intimate affairs where each student serves as her or his own valedictorian, and each class chooses its own speaker,” Goddard College Interim President Bob Kenny said in a statement. “Choosing Mumia as their commencement speaker, to me, shows how this newest group of Goddard graduates expresses their freedom to engage and think radically and critically in a world that often sets up barriers to do just that.”

Or, it simply shows that the students of Goddard College are disgusting degenerates who love death. Would choosing George Zimmerman be okay with the leaders of Goddard College? At least Zimmerman wasn’t convicted of any crime!

Needless to say Officer Faulkner’s wife is appalled by the decision Goddard College has made. She recently spoke out on Fox News about the incredible slap in the face to her family that this move is.

“I am just absolutely outraged that they would have such a hate-filled murderer on as a commencement speaker…he murdered my husband with malice and pre-meditation. He is evil.”

MAUREEN FAULKNER, HUSBAND MURDERED BY MUMIA ABU-JAMAL: Well, all I can say is, he is a murderer and…he lost his voice when he put a bullet between my husband’s eyes. And I still do not understand this justice system, and why they are allowing him to speak. They are saying it’s his constitutional right? And from what I understand, the Justice Department is – actually, in Pennsylvania, the DOJ in Pennsylvania are saying, they are so sorry that – you know, this college is allowing him to speak. Why doesn’t the justice system say he’s not able to speak?

FaulknerLater host Megyn Kelly gave voice to what I believe many of us feel about this move from Goddard College and her students.

KELLY: These graduates want to celebrate their commencement from college by listening to a man who killed – who gunned down your 25-year-old husband like an animal.

After speaking with Faulkner, Kelly went on to speak with Dustin Byerly, who is a representative for the school. What she wanted to understand was… WHY? Why do the student want to hear from Abu-Jamal?

KELLY: These graduates want to celebrate their commencement from college by listening to a man who killed – who gunned down your 25-year-old husband like an animal.

FAULKNER: Not to mention that he graduated from that college in 1996….and got his bachelor’s degree – Mumia Abu-Jamal did…while he was on death row.

KELLY: Did Daniel ever graduate from college? Was he able to graduate?

FAULKNER: My husband was in – my husband was in community college. He was getting ready to graduate with his bachelor’s degree, when Mumia put a bullet into his back, and then, between his eyes. But does anyone talk about that? No.

KELLY: Unbelievable, Maureen-

FAULKNER: And this is what’s wrong with our society, Megyn. You know, there’s a saying – and it says, ‘All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.’ And that’s why we must speak out on our discontent on this murderer speaking at this commencement.

So, no answer?

Mumia Abu-Jamal is a monster who murdered a man who’d done him no wrong. Danny Faulkner, by all reports, was a good man and a fine husband who didn’t deserve to be slaughtered on the streets of Philadelphia. Streets he was working to keep safe…

Goddard College sounds like a disgusting institution with no sense of propriety, right, wrong, or shame. Here’s hoping enrollment dries up and the college disappears.
