Remember when President Obama told us that the war in Iraq was over and we had succeeded? How about the time President Obama told us that al-Qaeda was all but defeated? Would you be very surprised if I told you it was all one big pile of shinola? Of course you wouldn’t be surprised, you read our site, where it seems that we are daily having to remind the President that lying is not a noble venture. Our President has become an expert in the art of deception, but the people he practices on the most are the citizens of the United States. He has become especially adept at lying when it comes to matters of war.
Well, now al-Qaeda is helping the American people to understand just how big of a liar the President really is. From Fox News:
“Al Qaeda’s branch in Iraq claimed responsibility Tuesday for brazen raids on two high-security prisons on the outskirts of Baghdad this week that killed dozens and set free hundreds of suspected militants, including some of its followers. The raids, which killed at least 25 members of the Iraqi security forces, appear to be more evidence the terrorist group is regaining strength and becoming a primary threat to destabilize an already fragile government… The statement issued in the name of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, the Al Qaeda affiliate in Iraq, was posted on an online jihadist forum. It said months of planning went into the highly coordinated assaults on the prisons in Abu Ghraib and Taji that began late Sunday.”
That’s right – the defeated al-Qaeda carried out a “highly coordinated” set of attacks on two “high security” prisons, all while holding off military and police reinforcements sent from Baghdad. In the attack, they were able to set free about 500 terrorist militants, many of whom had been sentenced to death for their crimes.
The reality is that Sunni and Shia sectarian groups are fighting amongst themselves for control of the future of the country. Al-Qaeda may have been weakened, but as the face of the war on terror, they will always attract militant Islamic revolutionaries looking to deliver a blow for the cause of Mohammed. While we can continue to hammer at the evil Islamic group, they will likely continue to exist until we can find a way to stamp them out philosophically as well as physically.
What we don’t need is our President blowing smoke about how our enemies are defeated and our job in Iraq is complete. Obviously, we did not do what we set out to do in Iraq, and al-Qaeda is still very much a threat. Are you wondering why the President would lie about these things? The short answer: Syria, Libya, Egypt, Iran and any other country we may intervene in over the next few years. Simply put, the President doesn’t want to limit his ability to act in the affairs of Arabic countries. So expect the lies to continue.
