Joe Biden Praises Unions on Labor Day – Says “It’s Time to Take Back America”

Vice President Joe Biden was in Detroit on Labor Day in an effort to rile up Michigan’s union members ahead of what is sure to be a hotly contested November election in Michigan. While there he said things like this…

“Why in God’s name does someone who makes hundreds of millions managing a hedge fund pay only 15% in taxes, while the average GM worker pays 25% in taxes,” Biden asked the thousands of union members who converged on Detroit for the Labor Day festivities. “America has always done best when we act as one America. When we do, the nation succeeds.”

Can I just point out a couple of things here? First, a person managing a hedge fund is not making “an income” per se – he earns based on the profit earned from the hedge fund. It is a completely different tax from an income tax. Second, if it’s unfair, why not lower the income tax instead of raising the tax on the hedge fund manager? Why is the first response to tax more, instead of less? Third, what in the world does this mean? “America has always done best when we act as one America. When we do, the nation succeeds.” It’s claptrap, pure and simple. His entire speech was a call to class warfare and imploring Michigan’s union members to go to war against conservatives… but then he throws in this “one America” BS? Biden’s audience must have been filled with morons. Or Democrats… but I repeat myself.

Here’s the speech if you can stomach the inane ramblings of our clown prince of politics.

“Unions did in fact build the middle class and the United States of America as we know it. If the middle class is doing fine, everyone is doing fine. A consensus used to exist between Republicans and Democrats, that if you contributed, you got to benefit from that contribution. We’ve got to restore that bargain, if we don’t America is in real trouble.”

I’m sorry. Does anyone else see the delicious irony of Biden giving this speech and saying these things to this crowd while in Detroit, Michigan? I mean, this city was ravaged by unions. This state was laid low by the incredible corruption of Democrats who worked hand-in-hand with union cronies to suck every penny they could from their employers, only to watch those businesses disappear… and they have the audacity to hold a rally like this here? It takes a lot of guts to do something like that.

Other Democrat speakers at the event were Teamsters President James Hoffa, retiring Senator Carl Levin (D-MI), Representative Gary Peters (D-MI) who is running for Levin’s Senate seat, and Democrat candidate for Governor Mark Schauer. All of them talked about the importance of unions to Michigan and how they needed union help to take back Michigan (and America). They said all of these things with a straight face!

Fortunately for Michigan, the state GOP was listening too. And they wanted to remind voters of the truth.

The truth is that Michigan is better off now than the state has been in DECADES. That massive rebound is thanks in large part to conservative reforms passed by a Republican Governor and Republican majority legislature. After years of Democrat control Republicans took the reins of leadership in 2011 and have presided over a Michigan renaissance.

Republican Party chairman Bobby Schostak had this to say about the comments made at the Democrat pro-Union rally.

“This Labor Day, Vice President Biden and Washington Democrats could learn from the progress we’re making in the Comeback State. We’re on track to make a faster comeback than the nation as a whole over a four-year span, thanks to Governor Snyder, Republican leadership.”

So, silly Joe can keep making his ridiculous comments, but we think the voters in Michigan know better. Their state is living proof of the superiority of conservative policies over liberal policies. And because of conservative policies, Michigan truly has become “the Comeback State.”

Here’s one more of Joe Biden’s “nothingness” quotes from his Michigan adventure.

“The American people have not stopped dreaming. The American people have not walked away from what they believe they are entitled to. Just give them a chance! No hand out – just give them a chance!”

What does any of that even mean!?! Give us what we’re entitled to… but no handouts! Oh, Joe. Go back to DC.
