The overwrought operatic production in Ferguson is beyond rationality.
The first Roman emperor, Caesar Augustus died exactly 2,000 years go, August 19, A.D. 14. His funeral seems to have been a little less than the Michael Brown funeral with a cast of thousands. One has to wonder – who orchestrated and paid for all those thousands to travel to participate in a funeral, which in fact, appeared to be more of a political rally, heavy on condemnation of everyone except those whose actions precipitated the tragic scene.
No disrespect to any dead. But really…this was not so much a funeral, as a “get out the vote” diatribe designed to reinforce inaccurate perceptions about race relations in the United States of America. It’s not about race, but about bad or criminal conduct. Everyone needs to be educated that a lawful direction by the police must be respected.
The fact, verified by video, that Michael Brown robbed and assaulted a convenience store worker was swept away with charges it “besmirched” his character. The telling, not the doing, was at fault?
No one seems to make the connection that Brown, encountering the police officer immediately after leaving the convenience store, may have been convinced he was about to be held accountable for the robbery, which many dismiss as insignificant…$49 worth of cigars. Who cares, beside the store owners?
While Chicago black on black murders go unmarked, one white on black incident is turned into a very bad melodramatic opera…with more victim-actors than the second act of Verdi’s opera “Aida,” when the victorious Egyptian general Radamès, brings home a long parade of the vanquished enemy for the king and spectators.
The Left/Marxist/Democratic script is always the same…and as dramatic as Verdi’s opera…the chosen favored group, such as blacks or illegals, is victimized by ordinary Americans going about their business so they can pay the bills for themselves and those who are not contributors. The “victims” are never the source of their misfortunes. Their actions are never to be held at fault.
The Brown situation was made to echo the Trayvon Martin case…the terrible “racist,” killing of a black young man by a non-black – in the Martin case, a Hispanic, in the Brown case a white police officer.
Meanwhile, the media which is partially responsible for the deterioration of actions in Ferguson, as without TV cameras and reporters there’s no point in carrying signs protesting – doesn’t bother reporting objectively. Most of the ultra-liberals do what they were trained to do by leftist college teachers – tell the story as advocates, activists, not objective professionals.
Sadly, neither the media nor government officials have little interest in the unrecognized victims in Chicago, or elsewhere, nor in any solution as to why black young men are killing other black young men. Instead they focus on the “unfairness” of large proportions of arrests and incarcerations of blacks.
The Brown case has all the earmarks of the Democrats’ determination to “…never waste a crisis…” using the Ferguson situation in the goal of stoking the fires of untruths, blaming innocents for the difficulties of certain favored groups.
The facts of the incident in Ferguson have not been exposed to the public.. .which many believe has been a monumental error of judgment by the police.
It seems that immediate full disclosure of the confrontation between Officer Wilson and Michael Brown would have had a chance of avoiding the rampant misleading and false renditions of the event by persons who didn’t really know what happened. That would also have set the record on the right path which now may be difficult with the addition of the US Justice Department which some believe to be non objective.
The “eyewitness” accounts have been dispersed like the seeds of a dandelion with no way to call them back…even a Harvard Law School professor parroted the apparently erroneous assertion that Brown held up his hands in surrender. Brown’s admitted partner in the robbery – an alleged liar and wanted man – told a detailed story of how the officer affronted Brown. Media replayed this repeatedly. Souring public opinion.
People hearing the false or misleading renditions of the Brown event believe what fits their own private resentments and are pleased to judge officer Wilson guilty without knowing any of the true facts.
How all these mistakes can be unraveled is hard to discern.
Officer Wilson, according to US law, is presumed innocent until proven guilty…except in Ferguson and certain other places where Democrats control the story line of such events.
Intelligent Americans need to stand up for the Rule of Law and its protection of Officer Wilson and others caught in similar situations. After all, he and other police officers risk their lives daily. Never knowing when they will encounter individuals who lack respect for authority in general and police in particular.
