Happy Thursday Morning!
With the week more than half over we are headed into that last stretch before the weekend, keep your heads up, work hard and stay informed.
We’ve scoured the internet looking for the most important (to us) stories and the stuff we hope will keep you at the head of the pop culture and current events class.
So here’s what we’re reading today – Thursday, July 18, 2013.
The folks over at Rolling Stone have stepped into a hornet’s nest in their attempt to be “edgy.” This month’s issue has a picture of accused Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev prominently displayed. The general public is disgusted but so is the world of Rock n’ Roll. Many on twitter are calling for a boycott. Oh by the way, Politico doesn’t see what all the fuss is about.
Jimmy Carter says the US government has no moral authority to condemn Edward Snowden because the NSA snooping program goes way too far. OH NO! I agree with Jimmy Carter…. This. Is. Not. Good. I am going to have to reevaluate some things…
The Larry Elder vs. Piers Morgan debate did not disappoint. “Lively” would be putting it mildly.
During a White House press briefing an intern asks a good question and then is promptly torn apart by veteran reporters. Oh… and he’s a High School Junior.
Bill Kristol is the definition of neo-con and he’s here to say that Rand Paul and Ted Cruz are “anti-military.” There is a fight coming in the Republican Party between the old guard neo-cons who ran things in the 90s and 2000s and the libertarian Republicans who are beating up the Democrats today. Which way does the Party want to go?
If Ben Bernanke warns that “economy could tank,” but no one reports it… could it still happen?
A Washington man was surprised when he was arrested for firing his shotgun into the air to scare of thieves. He claimed to only be doing what Vice President Biden had said to do… oh that Crazy Uncle Joe. While the Vice President did give that advice, firing your weapon into the air in such a way is illegal in much of the country. Also, a side note… it’s unwise to fire your gun up into the air, because as physics teaches us, the bullet must eventually come down.
A Siberian cult thinks that their leader is Jesus. Seriously.
Man arrested trying to enter the country from Mexico with almost $130,000 stuffed into his socks. How is that even possible… is there a 130K bill that I don’t know about?
