We glossed over this a few months ago when it first happened, but it really must be given its day in the sun on Eagle Rising.
We’ve grown used to Congressman Trey Gowdy (R-SC) saying important and logical things. We’ve grown used to being impressed by the South Carolina Congressman’s moxie and fortitude. We’ve even grown used to being awed by his short and powerful speeches. However, we hope we never grow used to the pride we feel when a conservative politician stands up against the corruption of power in the federal government.
Congressman Gowdy did just that when he stood up to encourage his fellow House members to remember what it is they were elected to do. President Obama and his jackbooted administration have been treating their Constitutionally Required duties as mere suggestions, so Rep. Gowdy has sponsored a law that would allow Congress to force the Executive to do his job. Every Republican in the House agreed… but only five Democrats chose to sign on to the bill. Apparently, the Democrat Party at large is happy to let the President rule as a king.
You know, in the oath that brand-new citizens take, it contains six different references to ‘the law.’ If it’s good enough for us to ask brand-new citizens to affirm their devotion to the law, is it too much to ask that the president do the same?
If a president can change some laws, can he change ALL laws? Can he change election laws? Can he change discrimination laws? Are there any laws, under your theory, that he actually HAS to enforce?
What is our recourse, Mr. Speaker? What is our remedy?
Thank you for fighting for us, Rep. Gowdy. Keep up the good work.
