What We’re Reading July 11, 2013

Happy Thursday y’all! It’s been a busy week on the news front with planes crashing, trains running off the rails, and the Justice Department helping to organize anti-George Zimmerman rallies.

I’m sure you’re not here for the playful banter so let’s just get down to the brass tacks – what do you need to know about what’s going on in the world, right now?

Here’s what we’re reading today, Thursday, July 11, 2013.

Accused Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has pleaded not guilty to all charges in his first court appearance. Unbelievable – how much hubris must it take to stand there and say “not guilty?”

“Like so much of what goes on in Washington, the student loan and grant programs are another government-manufactured problem that was initially designed to create more Democrat voters. Republicans voted for the programs because the Democrats would have depicted them as ‘enemies of the poor.” As such, the student loan program is itself a “Road to Serfdom.”

This story is from the files of the unbelievable… The Department of Justice facilitated protests against George Zimmerman! Is that Justice? When the government teams up with citizens to find a man guilty before he has been given a fair trial? To make matters even worse – the ex-police chief of Sanford, FL says that the investigation was “taken away” from them. He makes it sound as though the state proceeded with prosecution even though there wasn’t enough evidence to convict Zimmerman of a crime.

MorganFreemanA federal judge has stopped Wisconsin’s recently passed abortion ban from going into effect. So, Wisconsin mothers, you better hurry up and murder your babies’ quick before the law goes into effect. The Wisconsin law is a lot like the also recently passed Texas law and we can probably expect a similar legal challenge to Texas’s ban as well. By the way – this judge makes me sick.

NBC suddenly finds a reason to respect President George W. Bush – he disagrees with Republicans on immigration reform.
