Joe Biden is crazy. I think we all agree on that – but sometimes his crazy talk makes a little sense.
Last week he was in Maryland speaking to some supporters when he started discussing American optimism and said one of the more honest things an Obama administration official has ever said.
“It always surprises me when we don’t have the degree of optimism that we should about the state of the nation,” Biden said. “And in spite of who’s president, in spite of who’s in the Congress, the American people are so much stronger, so much more resilient, so much more capable, that even the ridiculous policies of our friends on the right cannot keep them from moving forward.”
Yea, Joe. “In spite of who’s President” we’ll keep moving forward.
In the same speech, Biden also spoke about Democrat chances in 2014.
“I can’t imagine our prospects being viewed by the press and everyone else as being a whole hell of a lot brighter by the time we turn in September then now,” Biden said. “The American people are where we are. Let’s go out and make every single effort not just to defend, but to aggressively push, aggressively push our agenda.”
Crazy ol’ Joe may think that it’s those of us on the right slowing things down, but let’s step back and think about who’s been in charge for the last eight years. Since 2006 Democrats have controlled at least two thirds of the government. Between 2008-2010 Democrats controlled the House, the Senate and the White House. Since 2010 Democrats once again controlled two thirds of the government. Yet things may very well be as bad today as they were in 2009.
The problem isn’t conservative policies. The problem is that liberal policies are destructive. They are mind-bendingly illogical, and when they fail Democrats simply say “…but the Republicans.” And the media lets them get away with it.
Sorry, Joe. But you and your buddies have no reason to be optimistic about 2014 – we are going to make sure your party gets the punishment it deserves.
