Have you seen the latest viral video sensation? It’s a clip of President Obama admitting in 2008 that, in his view, exercising Executive authority through Executive Orders is unconstitutional. I wonder what the President would say when confronted on this issue today?
“It’s cool, I’m not George W. Bush. What I meant to say at the time was that it’s unconstitutional for a Republican – especially Bush – to do this. Not me. I’m cool.”
I taught Constitutional Law for ten years. I take the Constitution very seriously. The biggest problems that we’re facing right now have to do with George Bush trying to bring more and more power into the executive branch and not go through Congress at all. And that’s what I intend to reverse when I’m president of the United States of America.
Liar, liar pants on fire.
Look, I’ve said it before and I am saying it again. President Obama was right about Executive Orders in 2008 and he is a BIG FAT Hypocrite now. Our founders established the balance of powers principle for a reason – they believed that the biggest threat to liberty was the concentration of power. Especially concentrated power with the Executive.
It’s time to hold Obama accountable – Executive Orders are not the way our government was designed to be run. We are a Constitutional Republic, and as such, sometimes logjams cannot be avoided. In fact, our system is designed to ensure that from time to time WE WON’T BE ABLE TO COME TO AN AGREEMENT. That’s the nature of the beast, and it’s not necessarily a bad thing. Change for change’s sake is not always an improvement.
Congress makes the laws. The Executive enforces the laws. The Court’s decide if the laws are legal… that’s how it’s supposed to work. That’s the way it was meant to work.
No more bypassing Congress to make law. No more Executive Orders.
