Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) mixed it up a bit with Attorney General Eric Holder in a recent Senate Judiciary meeting that also saw the Attorney General unable to answer Senator Mike Lee’s (R-UT) questions.
“In my view, the integrity of the Department of Justice has been severely compromised. Predecessors of yours in both parties, Democrat and Republican, when faced with serious charges of abuse of power for partisan gain have made the right decision and appointed special prosecutors. I would call upon you to carry out the tradition of independence that attorneys general have honored that office with for centuries and protect the integrity of the Department of Justice… Given the political sensitivities, given the fact that individual citizens believe they are being persecuted by the federal government for partisan reasons.”
Meanwhile, Attorney General Holder doesn’t seem to think anything is wrong…
“I don’t think that there is a basis for us to conclude on the information as it presently exists that there is any reason for the appointment of the independent counsel…The notion that somehow this has caused a loss of faith in this Justice Department is inconsistent with the facts.”
I wonder if Holder is getting tired of looking ridiculous. His answer to almost every line of inquiry over the last six years has been – “I can’t comment on an ongoing investigation.” Do any Justice Department investigations ever end? Are there ever any conclusions? Or will these investigations simply continue until the Obama administration rides off into the sunset?
It’s time we face facts – the Justice Department is corrupt. There will be no justice for the lawless activities of the Obama administration as long as Eric Holder is in charge.
