There is no denying that CNN threatens anyone who jokes about them in a way that they don’t like.
By tracking down the creator of the Trump v. CNN wrestling meme, CNN threatens all free speech on the internet. The media corporation basically asserted the right to regulate social media and punish offenders. They not only did this, but admitted openly to their extortion and made it clear that their action could be aimed at anyone else who displeased them.
Here’s CNN’s own headline: “How CNN found the Reddit user behind the Trump wrestling GIF.” Here’s the centerpiece of the extortion (emphasis added).
CNN is not publishing “HanA**holeSolo’s” name because he is a private citizen who has issued an extensive statement of apology, showed his remorse by saying he has taken down all his offending posts, and because he said he is not going to repeat this ugly behavior on social media again. In addition, he said his statement could serve as an example to others not to do the same.
CNN reserves the right to publish his identity should any of that change.
So, they’re not going to try to destroy this person’s life because he groveled. If he misbehaves again, they’ll pull the trigger, but for now they’ll let him serve as a warning.
The CNN story doesn’t even acknowledge how the internet works:
In the phone interview on Tuesday, “HanA**holeSolo” said the White House did not ask his permission to use the GIF, and said he probably would have said no if they had.
Donald Trump had better start retweeting every anti-CNN meme that he can find. This cannot stand.
The Leftist press is pretending CNN did not cross a red line. Imagine if this was a story by Fox News about how they did this to a teen for publishing an anti-Fox News pro-Barack Obama meme.
