The Disgusting Bigotry of MSNBC
On Wednesday night MSNBC tweeted this.
Really? This is the depths that MSNBC has sunk to. They don’t even have a particular conservative to argue with here – they just say that all of us – we are all racists. This truly does uncover the layers and layers of hatred that have built up at MSNBC. The race card is not simply a political tool that they use against Republicans – they actually believe that Republicans are racist.
Fairly quickly, someone at the network must have realized that they had just crossed way over the line.
I’m not sure how much they truly “regret” posting the original tweet – but it’s nice to see them write that “It does not reflect MSNBC’s position and we apologize.” The problem is that it does reflect their position. All you have to do is watch their prime time lineup on any given night and they say things very reminiscent of the first tweet all of the time. Al Sharpton, Chris Matthews, Rachel Maddow, Ed Schultz, Eric Michael Dyson, Melissa Harris-Perry and many others are constantly sounding the race horn.
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could have a political argument and base it solely on our political differences and not introduce race into the debate at all? I hold the political beliefs that I do completely exclusive of any racial rhetoric, and it would be nice to debate from that perspective… instead I have to consistently tell the liberal trolls who hang out around here that I am not a racist.
In fact, I’m not even white and I happen to have my own beautiful rightwing biracial family.
It was nice to see the backlash MSNBC received online from the bigoted tweet about right-wingers. Tweets like this –
You can see more of these Twitter responses to MSNBC here. It would do MSNBC well to remember that conservatives come in all shapes, sizes and colors…
UPDATE: MSNBC has apologized for the tweet and fired the person responsible for writing it!
“We immediately acknowledged that it was offensive and wrong, apologized, and deleted it,” the statement continued. “We have dismissed the person responsible for the tweet.
I personally apologize to Mr. Priebus and to everyone offended. At MSNBC we believe in passionate, strong debate about the issues and we invite voices from all sides to participate. That will never change.”
The problem is, there is no reason to believe that MSNBC really means it. Why? Because they’ve done this before. Back during the summer they also connected opposition to this Cheerios commercial to conservatives – you can read about it here. See, this issue runs far deeper than just one tweet.
