The Trump Administration risks hurting the Pope’s ego by withdrawing from the Paris accord.
The Vatican has given notice that, unless Donald Trump breaks his promise to voters, the Pope’s ego will be injured. Frankly, given all the progressive causes that Pope Francis has supported with the full weight of the reputation of the Roman Catholic Church, a wound to the Pope’s ego sounds like another win rather than a problem. The real question is why the Pope joined in a tax scam that would hurt everyone, especially the poorest people.
Reuters reports, “Vatican would see U.S. Paris deal exit as slap in face – official.”
At their meeting last month, the pope gave U.S. President Donald Trump a signed copy of his 2015 encyclical letter that called for protecting the environment from the effects of climate change and backed scientific evidence that it is caused by human activity.
Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin urged Trump in a separate meeting not to quit the Paris accord.
“If he really does (pull out), it would be a huge slap in the face for us,” said Bishop Marcelo Sanchez Sorondo, head of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences, which has hosted numerous international conferences on climate change.
Did the Pope honestly think that personally handing Trump his stupid globalist propaganda obligated the President to financially damage the people who voted him into office? Who does he think the President is supposed to serve?
