How Bizarre! FL Schools Placed on Lockdown Over History Lesson

Two Florida schools were placed on lockdown after a history lesson at a middle school had the police on high alert!

Braden River Middle School and Braden Rivera Elementary Schools were placed on lockdown around 9 a.m. after police received reports of a man walking around the campus with a shotgun.

However, it turned out to be a very innocent and unique situation to say the least. One of the middle teachers decided to bring a prop for his history lesson, which he has done over the past several years. So what was the prop? A Civil War rifle.
So why was this suddenly a problem? Someone walked by his classroom and spotted the rifle, not realizing it was an antique (although you’d think the bayonet would give it away) and proceeded to call 9-1-1.

Due to the close proximity of the elementary school and the middle school, they were both shut down for the safety of the children and staff.

Although a false alarm, Police are hailing those who called in as a “hero” because it is important to call in you see, hear,  or smell something strange. It may be nothing, like this report, but it could end up being something serious and you may end up saving someone’s life!

I wonder if it was called in as an “assault rifle”….That just makes me cringe to think about!
