Dem Congressional Candidate Seeking to Replace Tom Price Doesn’t Even Live in the District

Written by Philip Hodges

They’re describing Jon Ossoff as a ‘rising star’ in the Democratic Party. Always be wary of those folks. Republicans have had their share of ‘rising stars,’ and they end up in disaster every time.

Describing someone as a rising star in politics generally means that they’ve got a ton of money backing them up. And it usually means it’s a young person with glitz.

That pretty well describes Jon Ossoff, who’s vying for Georgia 6th congressional district, the same that was left vacant when Tom Price became the Secretary of Health and Human Services.

Democrats are saying that this Georgia race is an early test to see just how much their ‘resistance strategy’ against Trump has fared. This is a red district. Tom Price had no problem at all winning reelection over and over again. So, if a Democrat wins this special election, it will look like the resistance is succeeding.

It was just revealed that he doesn’t even live in the district he’s running to represent. The Hill reported:

Democrat Jon Ossoff dismissed concerns on Tuesday over the fact that he doesn’t live in the Georgia congressional district in which he’s running for a House seat.

“I grew up in this district; I grew up in this community – it’s my home. My family is still there,” Ossoff said during an interview on CNN’s “New Day.”

Ossoff currently lives just outside Georgia’s 6th Congressional District with his girlfriend, while she is attending medical school. He said that he has been transparent about the fact that he doesn’t live in the district, and pledged to move back to the district as soon as his girlfriend finishes school.

“I’m a mile and a half down the street to support Alicia while she finishes medical school. It’s something I’ve been very transparent about,” he said. In fact, I’m proud to be supporting her career.

“As soon as she finishes her medical training, I’ll be 10 minutes back up the road into the district where I grew up,” he continued.

Ossoff is facing of against a crowded field of Republicans on Tuesday to fill the vacated seat of now-Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price, who previously represented the 6th District.

It was also reported last month that he inflated his resume. Part of what he’s been campaigning on is his supposed national security credentials. He said that he worked for Hank Johnson (D-GA) – yes, the guy who was worried Guam might tip over – as a national security staffer for five years with a top-secret clearance.

The truth was not so spectacular. He worked as a part-time staffer for a couple years before becoming full-time. He worked with a top-secret clearance for only five months.

Yep, he’s the ‘rising star’ in the Democratic Party. He’s about as fake as his resume. But, it’s par for the course.
