Gun Rights

Trump to be the First President Since Reagan to do This

Written by Philip Hodges

Liberals have blamed the National Rifle Association (NRA) for every mass shooting that’s taken place. The NRA has countered with the fact that the only thing to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.

If there had been at least one person who had been allowed to carry concealed at the Aurora, Colorado theater when James Holmes started shooting people indiscriminately, that person could have neutralized him and prevented further carnage.

Likewise, if there had been a school official at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut who was allowed to defend himself or herself with a firearm, that person could taken out Adam Lanza.

It’s not coincidental that mass murderers like Holmes and Lanza chose venues with strict gun controls. They chose ‘gun-free zones,’ knowing that none of their victims would be able to fight back.

But liberals insist on creating more gun-free zones at schools, theaters, and other public places.

So, I’m sure this news will anger anti-gun liberals. Fox News reported:

The National Rifle Association announced that President Trump will speak at the organization’s annual leadership forum

The NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action’s executive director Chris Cox made the announcement on Twitter on Friday.

The president is scheduled to appear at the conference on April 28 in Atlanta, Ga.

Trump was endorsed by the NRA during the presidential election and was praised for his repeated defense of the right to bear arms.

He will be the first sitting president since Ronald Reagan to address the convention.

It’s been 34 years since a president has addressed the NRA.

At the NRA convention – which will take place April 27 and 28 – there will be some 80,000 people in attendance. In addition to the President addressing them, Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke, Florida Governor Rick Scott (R), and Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) will also speak.

Trump so far hasn’t changed his policy stance on the 2nd Amendment. That could be due in part to his own sons’ pro-gun opinions. Huffington Post pointed out:

Trump’s son, Donald Jr., a big game hunter, is also a darling of the NRA. He headed up his father’s Second Amendment Coalition advisory group. He’s behind a current push to ease restrictions on the sale of silencers.

Trump’s sons came under intense fire by liberals after it was revealed last September that they had killed a triceratops, a saber-toothed tiger, a wooly mammoth, and a pterodactyl.
