America’s ‘Hezekiah Moment’: The Election of President Donald Trump
For more than two years, as now-former President Barack Obama accelerated his race to destroy America during the latter half of his failed Presidency, this writer tirelessly warned Americans that the destruction and havoc Obama’s Presidency had unleashed on our nation was so overwhelming and thorough, that the election in November, 2016 of Hillary Clinton or any liberal or Democrat, would signal the end of our 240-year-old Republic. Further accelerating America’s decline and fall was the outrageous, irresponsible and sometimes treasonous collusion and inaction, refusing to act to stop or even challenge the tyrannical and unconstitutional executive actions being spewed forth by the Obama administration like an airborne virus to sicken and kill our rights, liberties and our hopes and dreams.
In the Old Testament of the Holy Bible, in II Kings Chapter 20 and elsewhere, we learned the story of King Hezekiah, who followed in the footsteps of several inept and evil Israeli Kings but was a holy and righteous leader who followed God’s commandments and worked tirelessly to enact reforms and straighten out a nation that had strayed from God, whose people were steeped in idolatry and wickedness, and King Hezekiah was feverishly working to rebuild moral and righteous institutions and likewise moral and righteous government and society in the nation of Israel. Not unlike America in A.D. 2016, Israel circa 700 B.C. was rescued from the edge of destruction by a strong, competent and moral leader in King Hezekiah. Unfortunately, at the height of his glorious and successful reign, Hezekiah fell gravely ill, and was facing an untimely end to his life, his reign, and in all likelihood, an end to the nation-state of Israel under God, as well. Those were indeed, dark days in Israel.
During the darkest days of 2015-2016 in America, when there was considerable evidence pointing to the likelihood of a Democratic Party victory and a Hillary Clinton Presidency, a heretofore unprecedented movement was unfolding among Evangelical Christians. That movement, though political as well as religious, was not crystallizing consensus support for a particular conservative or Republican candidate, but rather, was developing into a groundswell of support for any reasonable candidate who could defeat the Democrats and Hillary Clinton in the general election in November, 2016. Judging from the almost total news blackout in the media during the election year, it is fair to conclude that the unprecedented national campaign by the Reverend Franklin Graham to hold prayer rallies in all 50 state capitals for an election result that would save American from judgment was little noticed outside the Christian subculture that still strongly influences this nation.
Most Americans are starkly familiar with the state of our nation in the election year of 2016, reeling and staggering from moral decay lead by both the White House and the Federal Courts; infiltration of our federal executive branch by Islamists, Communists, Socialists and Anarchists; a floundering economy mired deeply in recession for 8 years; a dangerously weakened and demoralized military and law enforcement agencies nationwide under constant assault; the flames of racial hatred being fanned ever hotter by a President hell bent on fomenting internal conflict and insurrection; wide open borders and near-collapse of the rule of law was rapidly filling America with hostile illegal immigrants, terrorists and foreign born criminals.
By at least six months prior to Election Day, it was clear that Hillary Clinton would be the Democratic Party nominee, and if elected President would continue and even further accelerate the destruction of what remained of “America the Beautiful”. Most Americans are quite familiar with the incredible series of unlikely events and outcomes during the hotly contested quest for the Republican Presidential nomination. Against all odds, all predictions and all previously accumulated rules for winning a nomination, Donald Trump was nominated over 16 other mostly seasoned political adversaries. On November 8, 2016, surprising most pollsters, pundits, the Democratic Party and most of all, the Hillary Clinton campaign, Donald Trump was elected President of the Unites States.
Suddenly, American political power nationwide was firmly in the hands of Republicans, Conservatives and Libertarians, both in the Executive Branch and in both houses of Congress.
It was, not only in the opinion and conviction of this writer, but also in the opinion and conviction of tens of millions of conservatives and Christians across our beloved land, a miracle. And Christians, including this writer, firmly believe that all miracles are from the hand of God. I believe our Father Who Art in Heaven heard the prayers of Franklin Graham and the millions who attended his prayer rallies in all 50 state capitals across America during Election Year 2016. I believe he heard my prayers, and the prayers of millions of other Americans, whether practicing Christians or not.
But let me be very clear, those prayers were not, for the most part, on behalf of Donald Trump or any particular candidate for President. For the most part, those prayers by untold millions to our Father Who Art in Heaven, were on behalf of the election of a President who would be dedicated to saving and rebuilding a bruised and battered America. Most prayers this writer concludes, if specific, were specific in abundance that the person elected President would not be Hillary Clinton or any other Democrat or liberal.
When King Hezekiah suddenly fell deathly ill in 700 B.C. Israel with his righteous and reform-minded reign bringing much needed new life to his nation, he realized his work was unfinished. Hezekiah also knew as he prayed fervently to Our Father Who Art in Heaven to be healed, that the nation of Israel would likely decay and self destruct following his death, under the rule of another, ungodly, evil minded successor. God listened to the prayers of King Hezekiah, and the prayers of a multitude of righteous followers, and granted Hezekiah 15 more years of life, in which to continue to completion his righteous works and reforms to restore Israel as a-God following nation.
While it has been widely if not almost universally conceded that our new President, Donald Trump, does not have a track record as a conventional or practicing Christian, Mr. Trump is widely acknowledged to be a leader who upholds and practices most prevailing Christian values, is acknowledged as a Patriot and a man who loves America. Likewise, he is widely acknowledged as a President and leader determined to reverse the destruction brought to our nation by eight years of Obama’s evil regime. Mr. Trump has clearly staked out a path to put America first, restore both faith in and integrity to, our government, and to lead and govern with the first duty of keeping America safe and strong. He clearly is intent upon bringing a new birth of freedom and liberty to America, and to protect the people under the Constitution and Bill of Rights. President Trump will defend and protect the rights of a free people to express their religious faith in the public square, and to “defend us from all enemies, foreign and domestic”.
On election day, November 8, 2016, America was clearly a dying nation, and the future survival of this nation and her people were at stake. By way of the surprise victory, and arguably the miraculous victory, not just of Donald Trump, but also the miraculous victory over the evils and perils of continued liberal Democrat Party rule, United States has experienced A “Hezekiah Moment”; our beloved nation has been granted a reprieve, a second chance, and extension of time, an opportunity for redemption of our people and our nation, just as King Hezekiah was granted his extension of time in ancient Israel some 2,700 years ago.
Let us pray to our Father, Who Art in Heaven, that He will guide President Trump, guide our leaders at the local, state and federal levels, and above all, awaken the American people to the reality and opportunity of an extended time for repentance and redemption. Above all, let us pray to our Lord that we shall not squander the blessing He bestowed upon us some three months and ten days ago. May God bless America once more.
