Guest Post by Nathan Johnson:
Whatever happened to sitting at a table, drinking a beer, and discussing politics and/or policy with people who don’t necessarily see eye-to-eye with each other and no one cries, seeks shelter in a safe space, or gets stabbed with a fork?
What are we witnessing on today’s college campuses where grown adults cry, melt away like precious snowflakes, and on special occasions (like when Milo Yiannopoulos is the guest speaker) they even threaten violence? What or who is to blame?
Is it the result of the participation trophy doctrine? Parents telling their children that no one has the right to offend them? Or is there something deeper going on here?
Whether or not most Americans realize it, the backbone of our free society is being threatened. The right to speak our minds, the right to disagree with our leaders, our freedom of speech is being attacked on a daily basis from a force that consumes itself, has no moral compass, no core values and makes absolutely no sense, other than they obviously hate their own country.
The people I’m talking about are the ones who tell us border security is racist; that not wanting jihadists flooding our country is Islamaphobic; that people who believe in the 2nd Amendment are terrorists; and that free speech is a white supremacist idea. Their solution? Shut down those who disagree with them. That’s right. Those who claim that they are all about diversity care nothing for diverse ideals.
The leftists (I refuse to call them liberal, as they no longer promote liberal ideals, as they make Karl Marx proud) threaten violence to those who dare protest them.
I am proud to say that I am among those who protest the leftists’ brainwashing and running down of the country I love. I protest their hypocrisy. I stand behind every American’s right to free speech, because if one of us can be shut down, then all of us can.
I’ve watched with amazement what has transpired in universities across the country, and the scary thought is that these people will one day (after they complete their gender studies course) enter the world. What kind of world will we be faced with when these same folks who believe America rejected Hillary Clinton solely because of sexism are running companies, or worse, running for office?
Americans must educate themselves in the importance of the 1st Amendment and be ready to fight for one of the backbones of a free country – the right to speak without fear of repercussions.
