People Protesting Global Warming and Fossil Fuels Met With Freezing Cold Temperatures

Written by Philip Hodges

A group of activists protesting fossil fuel usage and the global warming it causes were met with freezing cold temperatures.

The activists with a group called “Keep it in the Ground” (KIITG) met outside a U.S. Department of the Interior office in Colorado, holding signs that read “Break Free From Fossil Fuels,” “End Fracking,” “Keep Fossil Fuels in the Ground,” and “BLM, Stop the Fracking Leases.”

Temperatures remained in the 20’s most of the day with an official low of -10 degrees Fahrenheit. The Daily Caller reported:

About 10 “Keep It In The Ground” activists waved signs next to a busy road in the Denver area, calling for the Obama administration to stop issuing leases so companies can drill on public lands. Activists say drilling only exacerbates global warming.

Global warming proponents always hate it when we “deniers” bring up cold weather temperatures, especially in the winter. We only bring it up because they bring up high temperatures, particularly during the summer. They point to hot weather as evidence that the world is heating up, and they blame people’s use of fossil fuels for the supposed rise in global temperatures.

So, if they can point to hot weather as “evidence,” why can’t we point to cold weather as “counter-evidence?” When they do it, it’s “science.” When we do it, it’s “denial.” The Daily Caller explained:

Now, of course, one cold day doesn’t disprove global warming, but it continues a trend of activists being beaten by cold weather when holding events trying to highlight how fossil fuels are warming the planet.

This phenomenon is called the “Gore effect” — coined after a global warming rally held by former Vice President Al Gore in 2004 was met with frigid weather. A similar rally held by Gore in 2006 in Australia was also hit by cold weather.
