2016 Election Media

MSNBC, CNN Hammer Trump’s Kids About Whether he’ll ‘Concede’ the Election When he Loses

Written by Philip Hodges

Why is this such a big deal to the media? They want to make sure that Trump “concedes” the election in case he loses. It’s almost as if they’ve already called it for Hillary. (By the time most of you read this, the election will be over, and maybe Trump did lose. But as of this writing, election day is just beginning.) From the Associated Press:

Donald Trump’s eldest son says that his family will “respect the outcome” of a “fair election.”

Donald Trump, Jr. told CNN’s New Day Tuesday that he thinks his father “will remain involved somewhat” if he loses the election. He said he hopes that the energy surrounding his father’s campaign “goes back to the people we are trying to fight for, the people who haven’t had a voice in a long time.”

He said, in retrospect, that “hopefully we shed some light on the process,” and enabled people to speak their minds freely, “without being put in some basket, without being boxed in a corner.”

Eric Trump says that his father will concede the election if he loses and the results are “legit and fair.”

In an Election Day interview with MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Donald Trump’s son said that “all we want is a fair fight, not just for this election but for all elections.”

The Republican presidential nominee has repeatedly warned of a “rigged election,” though there is no evidence of widespread fraud in the electoral system.

Eric Trump said, “we’ve seen states where a few thousand votes can make a difference.”

Pressed by MSNBC anchors, he said of his father, “if he loses and it’s legit and fair, and there’s not obvious stuff out there then without question, yes,” he would concede.

This isn’t a question you here the same talking heads asking Robby Mook or John Podesta or the candidate herself. They’ll ask her something like, “After you win, how’s it going to feel moving back into the White House?” They’ll ask Trump something like, “After you don’t win, what are you going to do with your life? And are you going to concede the election to your opponent? You had to know that she was going to win the whole time, right? You never had a chance.”

Although the two are nothing alike, this is how the media treated Ron Paul in the last two presidential elections. They’d ask him over and over again if he was going to run as a third party candidate if he doesn’t win the nomination. They never asked any of the other candidates the same question.

I think one reason they ask these leading questions repeatedly is to condition the public. What the media wants is a self-fulfilling prophecy. If viewers hear that question constantly being asked of only one of the candidates, viewers will subconsciously think that that person is actually going to lose. Why else would the media be asking it over and over again? So, why vote for that person?
