CBS Covers for Hillary by Editing Interview With Bill [VIDEO]

Written by Philip Hodges

We reported a couple days ago about how Hillary’s husband slipped up a little in an interview, but quickly corrected himself. He had tried to help his wife out by trying to play it off like Hillary was totally fine, and that she was just dehydrated but already felt much better after a good night’s sleep. But then, he added:

“[I]t’s a mystery to me and all of her doctors, because frequently—well not frequently, rarely—but on more than one occasion, over the last many, many years, the same sort of thing happened to her when she got severely dehydrated.”

‘Frequently’ and ‘rarely’ are two words that are frequently – or, rarely, rather – mixed up together, mostly because they’re opposites. Perhaps Bill just misspoke. Or, he actually meant ‘frequently,’ but then had to quickly correct himself to cover for his wife. He’s not as smooth as he used to be.

Whatever his intent, CBS took it upon themselves to protect their viewers by erasing those troublesome comments. Mediaite reported:

When airing an interview with former president and would-be First Husband Bill Clinton, CBS News edited out a verbal slip that would have reflected poorly on his wife Hillary Clinton.

Clinton sat down with Charlie Rose Monday afternoon in an interview that aired later that evening…

But when the segment aired, the bolded section was edited out, cutting to a reverse shot of Rose nodding to cover up the jump:

Mediaite concluded:

It’s not at all uncommon of course for networks to edit down interviews to fit for broadcast or to clean up an interview subject’s response. But it is interesting that they chose to edit out an error that could have very well been newsworthy by itself.
