This is hardly the first time a Trump supporter has been assaulted in some way just for supporting Donald Trump. This is supposed to be the land of the free, of “free elections,” and people get beat up for supporting someone whom others don’t like.
The Record reported on one such incident that took place in Bloomfield, New Jersey:
A 62-year-old male was assaulted in a Friendly’s parking lot for wearing a Donald Trump T-shirt, Bloomfield police reported Tuesday.
The victim was walking on West Passaic Avenue in Bloomfield at 5:41 p.m. Wednesday when a male in an older gray compact vehicle questioned him about his shirt of the Republican presidential candidate. The suspect directed profanities at the victim as he continued to follow the victim.
The suspect followed the victim to the restaurant at 1243 Broad St. The suspect then approached the victim armed with a crowbar. An altercation occurred, with the suspect striking the victim several times, police said.
The victim sustained injuries to his forearms, hands and thighs. He was treated at the scene.
The suspect fled prior to police arrival, according to authorities.
The 62-year-old is a white man identified as Peter Yankowski.”He called me white trash, cursed at me, blah, blah, blah, which I told the police officers,” Yankowski recalled to WABC-TV in an interview. The 62-year-old also apparently had some “choice names” for the motorist as well.
The suspect had followed Yankowski to a restaurant called Friendly’s with a crowbar in hand, where their argument continued. According to an eyewitness, Yankowski was inside on his phone while also being “verbally abusive” to the suspect, who was getting ice cream.
“I said I’ll meet you outside so we can talk this over,” Yankowski recalled. “Come outside, he swings the low-jack at me.”
I think most of us here don’t care for Hillary Clinton. But we’re not going to go up to one of her supporters and try to beat that person up just because we don’t like Hillary. (Perhaps I’m speaking only for myself.)
