We hope you’re having a great day wherever you are and that the news we dig up for you this morning helps you navigate the day more efficiently!

It’s a busy world out there, and you don’t have a ton of free time to be doing Internet searches for the most important items of the day… lucky for you, we do. We drink gallons of coffee in an effort to stay awake long enough to scour the far reaches of the world wide web in an effort to bring you the most important, useful and useless information every single day.

You’re welcome.

So without further ado, here’s what we’re reading Friday, July 22, 2016:

Roger Ailes – the former head of Fox News – has stepped down. Rupert Murdoch has taken his place for now.

81-year-old Marine vet held hostage in a motel room for 4 years:  “A New York man is accused of holding an 81-year-old Marine Corps veteran hostage in an upstate motel next door to a police station for at least four years in order to steal his benefits checks.”

Surveillance footage shows man building a chemical weapon inside a Walmart:  “The man wearing all black is initially seen in the security footage from June 18 blending in like any other shopper. But, authorities say, he didn’t come to the store to shop, but to build a chemical weapon.”

Albanian hacker working for ISIS gathered a “kill list” of over 1,300 military and government personnel from a retail company’s computer system:  “The trespasser had ties to the Islamic State Hacking Division, a terrorist cyber unit, and before it was over he’d put together a “kill list” for the Islamic State with the identities of 1,351 U.S. government and military personnel from the 100,000 names, credit card records and Social Security numbers he’d extracted from the host server.”

This is totally uncalled for: A man lying on his back, with his hands in the air gets shot by Miami police. The man was a therapist who was trying to help an autistic man.

ISIS-affiliated group in Brazil was planning attacks during the Rio Olympics: “Brazilian police arrested 10 people who allegedly pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group on social media and discussed possible attacks during the Rio de Janeiro Olympics, officials said Thursday.”

A mayor in Massachusetts has stirred controversy after putting a Black Lives Matter banner on City Hall.
