What We’re Reading July 12, 2016

Written by eaglerising

We hope you’re having a great day wherever you are and that the news we dig up for you this morning helps you navigate the day more efficiently!

It’s a busy world out there, and you don’t have a ton of free time to be doing Internet searches for the most important items of the day… lucky for you, we do. We drink gallons of coffee in an effort to stay awake long enough to scour the far reaches of the world wide web in an effort to bring you the most important, useful and useless information every single day.

You’re welcome.

So without further ado, here’s what we’re reading, Tuesday, July 12, 2016.

With regard to police shootings, there is apparently no racial bias. And this is coming from the New York Times

An employee with the Democratic National Committee was shot dead in D.C. over the weekend.

The Dallas mass shooting was the first time police had used a robot to kill someone. “Robo-cops” on the rise?

Facebook is not only under investigation by the IRS, but they’re now the target of a $1 billion-lawsuit, stemming from the fact that social media platform has been used by terrorists:  “Facebook has knowingly provided material support and resources to Hamas in the form of Facebook’s online social network platform and communication services,” making it liable for the violence against the five Americans, according to the lawsuit. “Simply put, Hamas uses Facebook as a tool for engaging in terrorism.”

Is this offensive? A plane for fat people:  “…wider aisles, larger luggage bins, and the ‘largest windows in the single-aisle [aircraft] market’ – all aimed to create a ‘wide body feel’ and offer passengers an ‘unparalleled level of comfort,’ the company said in a statement.”

Judge tells Hillary she has until today to testify:  “On Friday, the conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch submitted a request for permission to depose Clinton, along with two other current and former government officials, as part of the ongoing Freedom of Information Act lawsuit looking into aide Huma Abedin’s special employment arrangement with the State Department.”

Dallas’ police chief – a black man – tells protesters to become part of the solution by joining the police force:  “We’re hiring. Get off that protest line and put an application in. And we’ll put you in your neighborhood, and we’ll help you resolve some of the problems you’re protesting about.”

Rudy Giuliani said the Black Lives Matter movement is “inherently racist.”
