Man Armed With a Knife Robs Gas Station…But Then he’s Confronted by a Man With a Gun [VIDEO]

Written by Philip Hodges

Never bring a knife to a gunfight.

It was around 2:00 in the morning that a man came into a Marathon gas station in East Ridge, Tennessee. The unidentified man – armed with a “large bladed weapon” – demanded the cash from the register, and grabbed a bunch of cigarettes. On his way out, he also grabbed the female clerk and threatened to kill her unless she went with him.

A customer in the parking lot saw that a robbery had taken place, and that the woman was being taken hostage. The customer grabbed his gun from his car and shot at the suspect several times, hitting him in the torso at least once.

When police arrived on the scene, they saw the suspect lying on the ground. The man was transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

It might be cliche, but the truth is that the only thing that can stop a bad guy with a gun – or a “large bladed weapon” for that matter – is a good guy with a gun. Some may argue that shooting the guy was overkill, since no one was sure what he was planning to do, and he was only armed with a large knife. But there’s no telling what the suspect’s true intentions were when he grabbed the store clerk. And he did threaten to kill her.

Not long ago, there was a robbery at a gas station in Fulton County, Georgia. Two suspects had barged in and ended up shooting one of the employees:

Authorities say the suspects, who were described as being in their late teens, early 20s, fired shots through the wooden door employees use to get behind the counter. Police say the entire counter is protected by inch-thick bulletproof glass, except the door, right where the clerk was standing.

The victim, identified as Saeed Muhammad, was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.

Police say the suspects then took the cash register along with some other items before they left the scene on foot.

When this is the sort of situation that happens with gas station employees, it makes sense to assume that the armed robber in Tennessee may not have had the best of intentions. The good part is that the woman who was grabbed by the suspect is alive, and the suspect is dead.
