Is there anywhere in the country that the local government tries harder to act like your mommy than in New York City?
New York City has banned smoking in many public places, the city has tried to ban large sugary drinks, they want to rid the world of MSG, and now they are taking aim at the fake public health hazard of electronic cigarettes.
Here is Rush Limbaugh speaking about the popularity of electronic cigarette bans.
The problem with trying to ban e-cigs is that they don’t actually harm anyone other than the user. There is no second hand smoke. There is no risk of nicotine poisoning nearby citizens. The only person affected by the electronic cigarette is the smoker themselves. And yet, liberal cities all over America are moving towards treating them just as they treat regular tobacco cigarettes.
Why are we so quick to try to ban things?
The leftists are always crying about conservatives forcing their morals onto other people and worrying that we conservatives are going to try ruin everything. But when you look around the country, which political group is the one outlawing things? The left or the right?
Some of us on the right do have some hard and fast moral views that do not allow much room for compromise, but you’d be hard-pressed to find us forcing those views on other people. If a person’s behaviors aren’t affecting their neighbors or hurting those around them – conservatives generally leave them alone. The same cannot be said of liberals.
Liberals try to tell us how to eat, what we should and should not drink, how we should raise our children, and what kind of behavior is acceptable in society. Isn’t it high time we tell liberals to keep their collective noses out of our business?
