I’m shocked! It’s as if these silly liberals never actually thought out how kids might react to being forced into a very uncomfortable situation… like using a bathroom with a person of the opposite gender.
Well, one liberal learned firsthand just how terrifying this interaction can be when she watched as her elementary aged daughters responded when three large transgendered men walked into the Ladies Restroom that they were using.
“I have shared my personal experience of having taken my elementary school age daughters into a women’s restroom when shortly after three transgender young adults, over six feet [tall] with deep voices, entered,” she wrote.
“My children were visibly frightened, concerned about their safety and left asking lots of questions for which I, like many parents, was ill-prepared to answer,” she continued.
Maya Dillard Smith was the leader of the Georgia state chapter of the ACLU until she resigned the organization over the ACLU’s position on mixed-gender bathrooms. Dillard Smith’s personal experience helped her to realize the folly of forcing mixed-gender bathrooms on the entire population, but realized that the ACLU would never change their position on the matter. The entire debate showed Dillard Smith that the ACLU was no longer (and hasn’t been for a long time) an organization dedicated to the rights of ALL people, but that instead the ACLU was dedicated to only certain “progressive” rights.
“I found myself principally and philosophically unaligned with the organization. I understood it to be the ACLU’s goal to delicately balance competing rights to ensure that any infringements are narrowly tailored, that they do not create a hierarchy of rights, and that we are mindful of unintended consequences.
I believe there are solutions that can provide accommodations for transgender people and balance the need to ensure women and girls are safe from those who might have malicious intent,” Dillard Smith reasoned.
In a statement, she said that the ACLU has become “a special interest organization that promotes not all, but certain progressive rights.”
The “hierarchy of rights” the ACLU chooses to defend or ignore, she wrote, is “based on who is funding the organization’s lobbying activities.” She did not elaborate on the group’s funding.
Upon resigning her position, Dillard Smith was met with the standard response from her fellow liberals who lambasted her as a tool of the right. One transgendered man who goes by the name Cheryl Courtney-Evans called the now former ACLU leader a “lazy,” “ill-educated,” “bitch,” who needed to sit down and “STFU.” (Shut the F*** Up) “What am I doing in a men’s room looking as luscious as I am, putting myself in danger?” Courtney-Evans said in the disturbing blog post.
I’m shocked about so much of this story… first everything that we conservatives have said about the transgender bathroom issue proves to be true, then a liberal realizes the error of her ways, then the liberal organization that she works for shuns her, and lastly her liberal peers demonize and marginalize her.
Shocked! Shocked, I say!
