Media Gives OK for Liberals to Attack Conservative Minorities

This may be a bit of a personal soap box for me, but I think it has to be said. Liberals hide behind their minority support as some kind of cloak to ward off criticism of racist and sexist attacks. If you give a few minutes to MSNBC, you will actually be able to observe old white men act and speak as if they are a racial minority. This is what liberalism does, it makes white people act like they somehow inherently understand minority groups.

Well liberals, you don’t.

At least you don’t understand all of us.

That’s right I said, “us.”

You may be surprised to hear this, but I get a lot of hate mail here at Eagle Rising. And a considerable portion of it usually starts out a little something like this – “You guys keep spewing your racist views…” By now I should know better, but it still catches me off guard when people just assume I’m some angry, old white blogger. Most of the negative email I receive usually ends up insinuating that I am white, that I am racist, and that I hate other people.

None of these things are true. I am neither white nor racist and actually, I love people. I don’t hate anyone, nor do I pass judgment on anyone simply because of the color of their skin. That would be stupid.

MSNBCRacistBut it proves a point for me. The left has bought into its own spin. They actually think that all conservatives must be white and racist. They actually believe it, folks.

I don’t wear rose colored glasses. I see some of the comments on Eagle Rising and other conservative sites – there are racist conservatives out there. However, the vast majority of the people I deal with on a daily basis are wonderful folks who don’t care in the least what color your skin is.

If you want to see what liberals really think of minorities, you only need to look at the actions and rhetoric of Democrats in New Hampshire.

Take what happened last week to New Hampshire state representative Marilinda Garcia, who announced she would challenge incumbent Democratic representative Annie Kuster in a highly competitive district that has switched party control in three of the last four elections.

But then prominent Democratic state representative Peter Sullivan, a self-described leader of the legislature’s “progressive” bloc, entered the picture. Using his Twitter account, he compared her unfavorably to O’Brien and conservative state representative Al Baldasaro this way:

She’s Al Baldassaro [Sullivan misspelled his name] in stiletto heels, a lightweight and O’Brien clone.

Bill O’Brien + Kim Kardashian = Marilinda Garcia

She is a right-wing, homophobic, anti-worker shill for the Koch Brothers.

Sullivan’s sexist comments drew fire from some blogs. Twitchy.com noted that describing Garcia as a male lawmaker in “in stiletto heels” suggests she’s merely masquerading as a woman and that Sullivan, with the Kardashian comparison, was “not-so-subtly tying Garcia to a woman who rose to fame as the star of a sex tape.”

doublestandardHave you heard about this on any of the mainstream news outlets? Probably not. Have you read about this in any major newspaper? Nope. Who has been covering this? Conservative media outlets. Let’s play the old “What if a Republican would have said it” game. Can you imagine the media backlash if that had come out of the mouth of a Republican? It would have engulfed New Hampshire in a media Armageddon! Every major news network would have run the story, MSNBC would have wall-to-wall coverage about it, and CNN would have on some hand-wringing panel to discuss why the Republican Party just “doesn’t get” minorities.

It would have been an epic media event.

But when a Democrat does it… crickets can be heard chirping in the fields.
