Obamacare Phone Scam

It may seem a bit redundant to write the words Obamacare and scam together but in this case it’s necessary.

Apparently some creative lowlifes with extra time on their hands are using the lack of knowledge that people have about the coming changes with Obamacare in order to scam their fellow Americans.

The criminals have been cold calling people trying to “phish” for information. The caller will begin the conversation by letting the person know that they have been one of the first selected to receive their new “Obamacare” insurance card.

All the unwitting person has to do is give the solicitor several key pieces of personal information so that they can be signed up for the service. The callers were looking for bank account numbers and social security numbers. Needless to say, the intended victims were not being signed up for Obamacare.

To make matters worse, as is usually the case with these kinds of crimes, the thieves were targeting our senior citizens.

If you get a call from one of these solicitors in the future please contact the authorities with as much information about the caller as you can give.

Also, as a public service reminder, remember to never give out any private financial information (or personal information) without knowing exactly to whom you are speaking.
