In Argentina Obama Accidentally Undermines Communism!

You’ve read stories about how President Obama said that there’s not much difference between Communism and Capitalism. Here’s some of what he said during his visit to Argentina where he danced the Tango:

“So often in the past there has been a division between left and right, between capitalists and communists or socialists, and especially in the Americas, that’s been a big debate. . . . Oh, you know, you’re a capitalist Yankee dog, and oh, you know, you’re some crazy communist that’s going to take away everybody’s property.

“Those are interesting intellectual arguments, but I think for your generation, you should be practical and just choose from what works. You don’t have to worry about whether it really fits into socialist theory or capitalist theory. You should just decide what works. . . .”

Communism does take away people’s property. Socialism does too, albeit in smaller and slower amounts. Many people in the United States have more than 35 percent of their property in the form of wages taken away from them every year in taxes. This is more than an “intellectual argument.”

Pres. Obama offers an evidentiary way to determine whether Communism or Capitalism works best. It’s just like determining if homosexuality or heterosexuality works best. Homosexuals can engage in every form of sexual act with one another and never reproduce. It’s similar to planting tomato seeds and never getting any tomatoes.

The only way homosexuals can reproduce is to act like heterosexuals or adopt babies from heterosexual couples.

The same is true of Communism. Socialism and Communism need capitalism to have any chance of survival. Both systems are immoral because they require stealing to survive.

Consider the Communist nation of Cuba.

The American embargo against Cuba has not isolated Cuba from the rest of the world. Cuba has been trading with the market economies in Europe, Canada, and Latin America, and it has “not produced the political and economic benefits to the people that embargo opponents say a lifting of the sanctions would produce.” (H/T: WND) Why? Communism does not allow for private ownership. Everyone has to be equal even if it means everyone is equally poor.

Venezuela is another example that Communism that does not work. The only reason Venezuela’s economy didn’t collapse sooner is that it was being propped up by oil revenue. Of course, without capitalistic economies that needed oil to maintain their growing economies there never would have been a demand for oil. Once again, Communist nations depend on capitalist nations to survive.

Store shelves in Venezuela are empty. People can’t even get toilet paper. Let’s bring a few Venezuelan young people to the United States and take them to a supermarket and then ask them this question: “Does capitalism or communism work?” Then take them to another supermarket, then another, then another so they don’t get the idea that there’s only one store loaded with food set up for visitors from Communist nations. And ask the same question each time.

When Russian president Boris Yeltsin visited a Randall’s Supermarket in Texas in 1989, it changed his view of Communism.

Boris Yeltsin

“In Yeltsin’s own autobiography, he wrote about the experience at Randall’s, which shattered his view of communism, according to pundits. Two years later, he left the Communist Party and began making reforms to turn the economic tide in Russia. You can blame those frozen Jell-O Pudding pops.

“‘When I saw those shelves crammed with hundreds, thousands of cans, cartons and goods of every possible sort, for the first time I felt quite frankly sick with despair for the Soviet people,’ Yeltsin wrote. ‘That such a potentially super-rich country as ours has been brought to a state of such poverty! It is terrible to think of it.’” (H/T: Chron.com)

Take a look at this photo of North and South Korea. South Korea is the image where all the lights are on. North Korea is where it’s mostly dark. North Korea is one of the last self-professing Communist country’s remaining in the world.

North v. South Korea

Pres. Obama is correct. Put Capitalism and Communism to the test. Capitalism will win every time unless a government starts manipulating markets, subsidizing one industry over another, carving out exemptions for this business over another business, and using the engine of capitalism to promote a socialistic economy.
