And so it begins. The other important failing of the Obamacare roll out was that its security was appalling, and now we have proof. Vermont has confirmed that their Obamacare system has had a serious breach of security – where a citizen’s personal information was given to the wrong person.
Officials overseeing the Vermont Health Connect website confirmed Friday there was a security breach on the system last month in which one user got improper access to another user’s Social Security number and other data…
The consumer, whom officials would not identify, reported that he received in the mail — from an unnamed sender — a copy of his own application for insurance under the state exchange.
“On the back of the envelope was hand-written ‘VERMONT HEALTH CONNECT IS NOT A SECURE WEBSITE!’ This was also (written) on the back of the last page of the printed out application,” said the incident report.
The fears about security thus far have centered in on the many problems involving the website. Many in the technology industry have come forward to warn about the dangers involved with the sieve like security when entering personal information on the Obamacare website. Now we are learning that it’s not just there that the system is experiencing some major problems. In the case of the security breach in Vermont, the system sent the information package (carrying the customer’s private information) to the wrong person – opening the customer to identity theft and the destruction that could have caused.
Even more concerning was that Vermont Healthcare personnel misled state representatives when questioned on the issue.
During a meeting of the House Health Care Committee on Nov. 5, Rep. Mary Morrissey, R-Bennington, asked Larson (Mark Larson, commissioner of the Department of Vermont Health Access) to comment on information she had received about a security breach or breaches on the system. Larson said his department had investigated one such complaint and it had proven unfounded.
Morrissey said Friday she was disturbed to hear now that the department had reported a breach to CMS more than two weeks earlier.
Not only are there security issues with most of the Obamacare associated websites, but we also have to take into account the corrupt department heads who will cover up these issues to ensure their own job security. Government bureaucracy and waste was abundant before the arrival of Obamacare, but we are now watching that bureaucracy and waste be taken to a whole new level. Obamacare is the very worst of government enterprise and solid proof “That government is best which governs least.”
