What’s Wrong with Liberals? Blame Public Education

The biggest problem rational, reasonable voters have is trying to understand what in the heck is wrong with so many liberal/progressive voters. Why can’t they see that they’ve elected people who are supporting policies that can’t work? We are close to 19 trillion dollars in debt, and it’s growing. By 2022, just paying the interest on the debt will cost more than either the entire defense budget or the entire non-defense discretionary spending budget. Only mandatory spending will consume more of the budget. Yet liberal/progressives, whether they support Clinton or Sanders, don’t seem to care. What’s wrong with them? I mean, I can understand the difference of opinion on things like the death penalty.  I know that there are conflicting views on abortion and manmade climate change, even if the scientific evidence for fetal awareness is greater than that of man caused climate change. Yet how can anyone not see that things must change if we are to survive as anything like the nation we are today?

A good case can be made that the education system is so indoctrinating our youth that they can’t reason logically. It would sure explain the thousands of Millennials who show up at rallies supporting Bernie Sanders. The Jesuits used to say, “Give me the child for his first seven years, and I’ll give you the man.” Sadly, that has been true throughout history, and is still true today. When the liberals started gaining strength and influence in colleges and universities way back in the 1960’s, they were able to start changing our society.

To be fair, some of the things the ‘60’s liberals crusaded against were wrong. They fought against the injustices of the establishment. They helped the civil rights movement succeed. They stood up for migrant farm workers. They gained more influence and supporters when they spoke out against the Vietnam War, a war that cost nearly 60,000 American lives. And so, their power and influence grew. By controlling so much of the major mainstream media, they were able to sway public opinion on numerous social issues. It took time, but as more and more indoctrinated college graduates began careers in entertainment media, journalism, education, and government, progressive ideas became more and more acceptable.

Obama WorshipWith their influence in the entertainment industry they slipped their anti-traditional American ideology into televisions shows. Roseanne replaced Father Knows Best. The Dick Van Dike Show, where the married Rob and Laura Petrie characters had twin beds, was replace by Sex and the City. This helped mold public opinion, but not as much as the changes in public education. Bit by bit, little change by little change, public education is molding our children into mindless followers of liberal/progressive ideology. An ideology that has shown it isn’t able to think rationally about the issues we face.

As with the changes in major media and entertainment industries changes in public education started slowly but have grown increasingly invasive over the decades. It started with more and more teachers being converted to a liberal point of view during their college years. They, in turn, carried these progressive viewpoints with them when they began teaching. Is it any surprise that the NEA and other teacher unions overwhelmingly support the Democrat party? A conservative teacher, and there are some, is usually pretty lonely in the teacher’s lounges across the country. Worse, many keep their heads down in fear of not just peer, but administrative opposition.

What has this come to? The list is too long to quickly catalog. Here are just a few. Christmas is now Winter Recess and Easter is Spring Break. Many schools have banned any Halloween activities entirely. Competitive sports are banned in many primary schools in favor of team efforts where “everyone” wins. Dodge ball is disappearing from playgrounds. Children are suspended for nibbling a pop tart into a gun shape. Man caused climate change is presented as fact. Social Studies texts list any and all wrongs committed by the United States, but portray Islam in favorable terms. Students can gain access to birth control without parental notification. White privilege is now presented in a way to make white students feel guilty about their race. Again, the list of how liberal/progressive policies are used to indoctrinate public school students is terrifyingly long and growing.

In closing, take the 2009 the song “Mm, mmm, mm! Barack Hussein Obama.” It was acclaimed as a tribute to our first African-American President. It was sung in a public school.

Below are the lyrics. Decide if this isn’t indoctrination:

Mm, mmm, mm!

Barack Hussein Obama

He said that all must lend a hand

To make this country strong again

Mmm, mmm, mm!

Barack Hussein Obama

He said we must be fair today

Equal work means equal pay

Mmm, mmm, mm!

Barack Hussein Obama

He said that we must take a stand

To make sure everyone gets a chance

Mmm, mmm, mm!

Barack Hussein Obama

He said red, yellow, black or white

All are equal in his sight

Mmm, mmm, mm!

Barack Hussein Obama

Yes!

Mmm, mmm, mm

Barack Hussein Obama
