Nanny State America – The Democrat Utopian Dream Will Destroy Liberty and Imprison Us in a Gilded Cage

Neither Debbie Wasserman Schultz nor Hillary Clinton answered Chris Matthews when he asked them what the difference between a socialist and a Democrat was. The answer, of course, is just about nothing. They both promise essentially the same thing – cradle to grave security in people’s lives. This Democrat and Socialist promised utopia demands only one thing in return — the surrender of our personal liberty and freedom. As Ben Franklin wrote, “Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.” If we are to survive as a free people the Democrat party must be soundly defeated in the upcoming elections.

The Democrat party today is not the Democrat party of Jack Kennedy. The left-wing fringe has taken the party over just about completely. Roughly 40% (and growing) of all Democrats today are perfectly happy with Bernie Sanders, a self-identified socialist, as their potential nominee. Even if it is unlikely that Sanders will win the nomination, it wouldn’t reduce the danger to our freedom if any of the other current Democrat leaders ultimately wins the upcoming presidential election. The progressive policies of the Obama Administration must not be allowed to continue and strengthen their grip on American society.

Those Americans with a clue must step up and inform family, friends, co-workers, and anyone else who’ll listen about the dangers of a socialist, or the quasi-socialist, progressive society. Uninformed or uninterested potential voters won’t hear about the dangers progressive policies pose for America on late night, morning shows, or MTV. They need to know that the Democrat agenda is about control, pure and simple. Every socialist society decides that the government has the right to tell its citizens how to live their lives. Some governments like Stalin’s Union of Soviet Socialist Republics in Russia or Hitler’s National Socialist German Workers’ Party in Germany are more brutal than others, but all such governments demand obedience from their people. It is unlikely that the United States would tolerate concentration camps or gulags, but a gilded cage is still a cage.

Consider how many personal freedoms we have already been taken away from us, for our “own good,” by progressives. They range from minor things like the size of the soft drink you can order or the kind of lunch you can send with your kid to school, to some pretty major considerations like mandating the kind of health insurance you have to purchase or limiting your right to keep and bear arms. How many more choices would they take away from us if they could? This will not be a land of the free if these intrusions aren’t reversed.

Knowledgeable citizens must convey this to those who are not as aware. Point out to them not the dangers of Democrat policies. Use the example of the utter chaos in cities like Baltimore, Detroit, and others where the progressive Democrat policies have be in force for decades. Is that what they want for the rest of the country? Clinton, Sanders, and the rest can promise all kinds of “free” goodies, but the truth is someone is going to have to pay for them. There has never been a socialist society that has raised the standard of living for the masses to anything near what we enjoy in the United States. Human nature is such that the majority of the people are perfectly willing to let someone else provide for them. Why work when you can have almost as much staying home?

And when there are more people being supported by others than are working to provide that support, what then? Then all those goodies will be cut back or eliminated. If people don’t realize this and elect leaders that will reverse the ever-increasing nanny state programs, our liberty will be a thing of the past.
