Conservative Congressman tells Obama – Liberty is a Well-Armed Lamb

Well Armed Lamb

I’m going to be honest with you and show my politigeek side for a second. I love the politics game that we all partake in each and every day. I really do. There are days when I get bummed out by the darkness and corruption I see all around me, particularly from the very people we elect to represent us, but for the most part I enjoy the game of philosophy, intrigue and debate that is American politics.

There are a few representatives who make this hobby more enjoyable, like Congressman Thomas Massie (R-KY). If there were Politicians “Trading Cards”, Congressman Massie would be one of my most coveted cards, and to explain why it is that I am such a big Thomas Massie fan, I’ll share with you his latest op-ed for Cincinnati.com.

In this recent article, Massie argues that Obama is wrong on guns and that firearms are actually an essential necessity for the perseverance of liberty in America. Massie writes that “Liberty is a well-armed lamb” and that “Our right to self-defense is not granted by any government. Rather, it is a God-given, natural right.”

He’s 100% correct. We need more representatives like Congressman Massie fighting for us and our liberty in Washington D.C.

Here’s what Massie had to say about the 2nd Amendment:

Well Armed LambMany battles await Congress as we begin 2016, but few are more important than the fight to protect our right to bear arms. Our right to self-defense is not granted by any government. Rather, it is a God-given, natural right.

In the words of George Mason, the Founding Father known as the “Father of the Bill of Rights”: “To disarm the people is the best and most effectual way to enslave them.” Benjamin Franklin said: “Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch.” And he could well have added: “Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote.”

Tragically, when a criminal goes on a shooting spree or a terrorist attacks innocent people, the administration and some members of Congress immediately call for more gun control. Just days after the recent terrorist attacks in Paris and San Bernardino, many Democrats took to the House floor to declare that guns themselves cause crime and terrorism.

Unfortunately, gun control advocates never acknowledge that criminals and terrorists by definition have no respect for the law. Therefore, passage of stringent gun control measures only disarms and punishes honest, law-abiding citizens.
